Pros
Lots of sales opportunities for advancement
Cons
Still not completely ready to be a sales organaization, some push back from "trash" people still around from the old days
Pros
A company that rewards and recognizes its potential in corporate america and is up to the challenge by continually demanding excellence.
Cons
The company is challenge with recognizing the pace at which it moves does not create stability of key programs and projects.
Advice to Senior Management
Take time to minimize the amount of projects which one believes will get us the results needed to be a leader in the industry.
Pros
Job security and decent pay
Cons
Not always practicing what is preached. Best talent not always utilized and least talent benefits more often.
Pros
Great benefits package and wonderful coworker relationships make it easy to get up and go to work in the morning. Peers are helpful.
Cons
Commission plan is a total joke across the board. Advancement opportunities are based less on performance and more on years of experience. Management seems out of touch with employee needs and expectations are a mirror of corporate. Lots of Yes men in management who worry more about quotas than employee advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your employees, refuse to make excuses and incentivize the desire to work outside of threats of losing commission
Pros
Great benefits, and large network of opportunities and possibilities
Cons
Some managers are still not very open to new ideas and opportunities from employees of the old Allied Waste which merged with Republic over two years ago.
Advice to Senior Management
Review middle management or area(regional) management including direct reports more often to avoid mini companies run within Republic in contrast to corporate policy..
Pros
There are still a hanful of people that work there that care about their careers.
Cons
They hire managers that have no decision making capabilities at all and shy away from employee's that ask questions.
Advice to Senior Management
The general management teams need to hire managers that know how to lead and communicate.
Pros
Fortune 500 Company with great potential. Interesting business. A lot of dedicated, passionate people.
Cons
Many areas are very under-resourced. RS has gone thru several aquisitions and they are still operating as a small company. They need to invest in people to drive programs to improve areas of the business. They also need to invest in technology. Instead they just keep saying ok everyone work harder and harder.
Advice to Senior Management
Look at what it will really take to make the company and processes sustainable and RS an enjoyable place to work.
Pros
·National Company
·Billion Dollar Industry- trash service will always be needed
·Commission
Cons
·Lack of training program
·Usual corporation woes
·Sometimes too much red tape
Pros
They allow lots of freedom in planning day to day activites. Home every evening which allows for good family time.
Cons
Low pay, all expenses (car, gas, customer "gifts") out of pocket first - then reimbursed a month later.
Very low commission structure; not very lucrative to get more business other than meeting the goals set by your local manager. They like you to work a lot of hours!
Lots of "baby-sitting". Numbers must be turned in on customer visits and calls every single day, GPS tracked through phones (brand new and may just be local), and daily tracking of numbers through an online database on top of all this!
Pros
Outside sales. Little supervision which is a plus.
Cons
Door knocking is always an adventure.
