Higher mgmt needs some alignment.
Long term vision is somewhat distorted.
Advice to Senior Management
Meet more - share goals & objectives - create a common goal and vision so the 15000 employees can follow that 1 goal..
Pros
The overall compensation was very good. The people on the research team were smart and interesting to work with. Socially conscious company.
Cons
Senior management can't decide what direction to take the advanced research in. Research turns into incremental advances that just try to match Apple, instead of real research. Director was not technically strong, and that held back the team.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate better from senior management to the workers. Try to recapture being an innovator instead of an imitator. Let researchers have more responsibility in their work and in the overall direction of the research.
Pros
- good work life balance
- Many perks and benefits
- Autonomy and freedom given in job
Cons
- HR has no power
- No structured career path
- Highly political
- Incompetent management
Advice to Senior Management
Promote people on what they can do as oppose to who they know.
Pros
Interesting work, sometimes on the cutting edge. Working hours are flexible and micromanagement is not prevalent. There are not many non-technical managers.
Cons
Poor management, particularly communication from upper management. The vision of the company, if any, is not shared with the employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more open with employees. Less "secret" projects. Share vision with employees, be open to creative suggestions from employees regarding future technologies. Be more creative and independent; stop chasing competitors and copying what they have done.
Pros
god work culture, friendly people
Cons
the decisions are slow and its like a slow moving boat. they have lot of potential but not using them
Pros
growth opportunities
initiatives are encouraged
decent salaries
Cons
difficult situation with Apple and android
Advice to Senior Management
care abt the customers
Pros
Used to be market leader in smart phone. Although it is sinking, the Blackberry brand remains respectful.
Cons
There are 2 CEOs and they do not manage the company effectively.
Advice to Senior Management
If you have made the wealth over the years, please step aside and retire. We need some seasoned, and well-respected crop of senior management team to undo all the wrong.
