I worked at Resorts World Sentosa as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

Friends I made there are awesome. The contract staff were generally very friendly with one another.

    Cons

Super bad management. My manager got his title because of his family background. Very unprofessional. There were a lot of office politics when I was there too - and the best thing was I'm not even a permanent staff there. You can imagine the rivalry between the permanent staff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

take care of your ground workers since you're a hospitality industry. we always have to force ourselves to smile at everyone at the resort.

I have been working at Resorts World Sentosa full-time for more than a year

    Pros

great group of people to work with within the department

    Cons

other departments just dont care about everything and always ended up clearing things up which not within the jobscope

responsibilities being pushed around from department to department. a simple task takes longer time to complete and eventually worsen the situation.

everyone just trying to do their own thing and think for themselves, the so call Kampung Spirit that been introduced to new staff on day one already long gone before settle down in this new place.

no sense of directions from top management. execute everything without proper consideration or planning.

expect the best from employee without providing the best surrounding

feedbacks often go down the drain and only will take into consideration when things got no turning back.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

be more contructive and plan for long term. solution is not a solution unless it solve the problem for a longer period but not just temporary.

I worked at Resorts World Sentosa full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Wonderful place, cant say much for the people.

    Cons

Poor structure for staff, especially for the lower ranking staff. Most of them are left out of the loop in decisions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Needs to be more structure. Even buying 1 screw has to go through 3 quotes?

Not a place for those who were previously exposed to much better working environments/ welfare or management.

I have been working at Resorts World Sentosa

    Pros

-Not really stringent as compared to MBS.
-Hardware wise at least they have 3 different attractions.

    Cons

-promotion are scarce throughout the resort in the few years I've worked here, I.e. there's a internal quota to promotion. I've seen more new bloods coming in then veterans rising up
-as expected of an Asian company, everything is about budget and P&L, thus welfare is miserable (no staff or friends family room rate for hotels for e.g.) salary are not competitve (her rival MBS is paying alot more for the various similar jobs) and budgets are always not approved for even themost basic necessities essential to serve the guests better.
-food in the national service tasted much better and had more varieties then the staff canteen food here (rws food would be equilevant to army food while mbs food will be equilevant to restaurant food)
-HR is very rigid, unflexible and lazy.had seen many screw ups by them throughout the years.
-senior management made the place felt like a monarchy and cold towards the employees.
-unappreciative and unprotective towards employees and no talent retaining programs available. Many assets in the company left due to stall in the same position, pitiful and unresourceful training , empty promises and many more reasons.
-most employees currently are overworked due to high turnover and short of manpower due to locals not taking up the job offers due to uncompetitive offers. Current employees are bound to leave as salary remains stagnant, almost everybody had to work 1-2 positions extra with no compensation or apprreciation.
-minimal empowerment to non casino staffs.
    - 90% of the employees' english are horrendous, many unhappy guest experience resulted in poor communication
-basically eveyone do not know how to deliver 5 stars quality service.
-basically there're more cons then pros in this place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have the hardware, I.e. the hotels, attractions and casino around. But you failed to pay attention to the software, I.e. the quality of the services rendered, staffs' soft skills etc. And you never listened to the groanings of the employees even when they decides to leave for greener pastures. And believe me more assets will be gone.

Senior management and management ought to go down and work at the front lines to see for themselves how overworked everyone is. (They have to disguise themselves if not.it will defeat the purposes)

I worked at Resorts World Sentosa part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Company is well run and a good amount of effort is put into keeping employees happy. RWS regularly organises recreational events for team members only eg. team member appreciation in Universal Studios.
    - Meals are provided (though don't expect restaurant fare!)
    - Co-workers are generally friendly
    - Good growth potential
    - Good bonuses for full-time members
    - Flexible working hours for part-timers or casual team members
    - Perks! Good staff discounts, staff packages (eg. USS tickets), health benefits etc.
    - Upbeat, exciting environment if you love the tourist industry. Plenty of international guests!
Overall a great company to work for.

    Cons

    - Inconvenient transport (you either drive or take the shuttle bus from harbourfront mrt into the employee's area)
    - Shift retail hours. Expect to work late. Night transport is provided but it's really slow.
    - Pay isn't very competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Good feedback portals. Great job!

I worked at Resorts World Sentosa full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Decent salary.. especially for the pioneer batch.

    Cons

No work-life balance to speak of. Most staffs pull long hours.
Senior management wants job done without giving clear directions.
Some colleagues are just pure evil.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give proper directions and treat your staffs fairly.
Keep an eye on your HR! Especially the RMs to ensure fair hiring and not hire "friends and family" who gets a nice positions and salary but can't move a finger to get job done.

I worked at Resorts World Sentosa full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Find group of people to work with.

    Cons

Senior Management does not listen to the input of those below. Not much benefits. Do little to retain staff that are really capable to work and do very little to reward those that are still there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk the ground and understand why is your turnover rate so high. It will help balance your P&L which you keep talking about.
