I have been working at Respironics full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

People work well with each other, not a political organization. Good Process in place and is a good place to start a career. Work-Life balance is good and salaries are competitive in bringing in new hires. Good benefit package.

    Cons

Not a dynamic organization with a heavy senior staff some which are in semi-retirement mindset. Heavy focus on costs as major products are a commodity in market. Management sometimes can make a priority call. Part of Global Organization (Philips) so there are the random small layoffs (Two layoffs in three years, but only 1% of workforce).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set a clear direction and get the workforce energized behind it.

    Pros

Great Benefits and vacation package if you are fulltime

    Cons

Very poor management, if you are not friends with either the supervisor or manager you can never advance in your career. Employment is not equal for all, employment is only for friends of the management members. Candidates are already chosen before a position is posted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Equal employment for all, it will make qualified candidates feel like they have a chance for career advancement

    I worked at Respironics

    Pros

Internal sale support is good, pay is above par. Company recognizes top performers on a regular basis.

    Cons

Company is behind the times for sleep products. They always seemed to play catch up with its competitors. Engineering dept not as innovative as competition. Management only cares about them selves not about the employees. They will cut positions frequently, no rhyme or reason as to who they cut. I would stay away from them if at all possible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees, put time and effort into R&D in sleep business. Stop treating employees like a number.

I have been working at Respironics

    Pros

Very little pros with the exception of coworkers.

    Cons

Philips is a company in a constant state of change. And it's always change for the sake of change. Yes there are thought out reasons behind the changes put in place but they're never seen through to completion and as senior leadership changes every 6 to 9 months they feel they need to make their own mark and more changes are handed down. In all instances these changes have resulted in a reduction in people. So there is zero job security within the company which makes for a very miserable place to work.

Philips has raped a once progressive and growing company to make up for their lack of leadership in other divisions of the company. Respironics was an industry leader with a strong outlook and double digit growth. That all came to a crashing halt when it was purchased by Philips. All the strong leaders that created Respironics have moved on because of Philips and the company is in a constant struggle to catch up with the rest of the industry because of the reduction in R&D spending after Philips took over.

Respironics is not a place to bet your future on as the leadership shows constantly that they have no idea what they are doing. They constantly combine divisions then break them back apart. It all reeks of little to no thought and no caring about the future.

This company is only concerned with the current quarter results. Which is a direct result of the leadership changing so often. They get their money and run. No care for the future. Which leads to the fact that this company has no future. Respironics will be sold off to a competitor who will shut it down to just bump up their market share.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop changing everything constantly and show your people you value them.

    Pros

Not too many. Close if you live in Murrysville.

    Cons

Big company attitude. Cuts made at will. Lots of overtime. Really went downhill after Philips took over. Many experienced people have left or are unhappy there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up! This was once a great place to work. The big company culture has taken over and squeezed out all the good things. You need to make it great again. What would Jerry think?

    Pros

The culture and friendlness of almost everyone is real and promoted throughout the company.

    Cons

Does not want to componsate the mid-level worker once new skills are learned or for experience on the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

componsate and promote better. 80% of the people I started working with have left the company because of better opportunities elsewhere.

    I worked at Respironics full-time

    Pros

Work facilities are really nice and comfortable. Some buildings even have gyms for employees. Hours and benefits are good. There are some opportunities for advancement for the right people.

    Cons

Team Supervisors aren't always supportive of those with outside obligations to family. Issues with team members who aren't performing up to par aren't always properly addressed by Team Supervisors.
