    Pros

CEO has great intentions and true open door policy. Some areas of the company still have a flexible start-up feeling, and show appreciation for good work ethic.

    Cons

Middle management has high turnover and is not supportive of the employees on their teams. No middle ground between micromanagement and absent managers. It seems to be only one or the other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to the morale of the people working directly with clients. Employee attitudes are a direct reflection of Responsys.

    Pros

Responsys still has some talented people to work with. There is a strong analytical culture that if done right (like the early years) can be a great learning opportunity for people.

    Cons

Lost focus over time. Early employees left or checked out.
The management let strong people leave and were left with some poor employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Dont let your employees go. Keep on your toes to keep innovating and looking for new disruptions.

    Pros

Really nice coworkers that make it hard to leave behind.

    Cons

VERY over worked employees. High level of dissatisfaction amongst employees. No growth opportunities. Company takes revenue and stock holders over employee happiness. High turn over in employees.

    Pros

    Good people
Some departments are better than others.
Teamwork is not necessarily top priority

    Cons

Thanks for the small raise. It was like getting the 10 cent an hour raise. I am now earning less due to inflation. I see staff here work hard and generally there is no opportunity to grow. Good to get experience then leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Grow your staff.

    Pros

Location. Great offices that are fairly new.

    Cons

Underhanded management team. Going to HR with any complaints is a complete joke. Very underhanded and sneaky.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop encouraging employees to go to glassdoor and post good reviews. Spend your time training managers first.

    I worked at Responsys

    Pros

    - Great benefits
    - The culture is fun and exciting. The job is relaxed (most of the time) and the people there don't make you feel worthless.
    - Growing company with "room" for growth (so they say).
    - Its easy to get a work from home day or time off request filled, they understand your needs.
    - They are very good at discussing the performance of the company to their employees, including financials.
    - Excellent in knowledge transfers, nobody withholds information from others.

    Cons

    - Compensation is low
    - Too disorganized within senior management that reviews are late and/or feedback for improvement is non-existent.
    - People are allowed to get away with too much at times, which means work ends up of falling onto the star performers.
    - Long hours which makes it hard to take time off.
    - Management is filled with false promises.
    - Titles seem worthless at times since a lower title doesn't mean less work/responsibility.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you reward those who out perform. Figure out a better way to review your employees, the existing process isn't working. Don't be afraid to get rid of the under performing employees, they are hindering your success as a service company. Invest more into your employees, they are overworked and generally under paid.

I have been working at Responsys

    Pros

The free food and drinks are the best. The free parking is a plus as well. As far as the culture I would say there is work that needs to be done.

    Cons

Management is ok but they can be a little micromanaging in their overall style. Also the benefits are not that great

I have been working at Responsys

    Pros

    Fast growing, successful company.
    Some interesting technology.
    Some good people.
    Hiring like crazy.
Recent efforts to hire talented people.
    Reasonable work-life balance.
Possible to negotiate good starting salary.

    Cons

Poor engineering management. Managers too often behave as though all programmers are plug-compatible automatons.
Rigid, hierarchical management structure that stifles collaboration.
Poor engineering standards - perfunctory design reviews, no code coverage standards, too few
automated tests, no automated UI testing.
    Low programmer morale.
    Few career advancement opportunities.
Little or no recognition for good work. Minimal or no raises, bonuses or stock option grants.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Implement 360-degree reviews, remove managers who fare poorly on reviews
    Flatten the engineering management structure
    Improve development methodology
Provide positive feedback and regular, merit-based reviews
