I have been working at Reval

ProsThey have a laid back management style.

ConsThere is little opportunity for promotion or advancement, management hires you for a job and wants you to stay in that role forever.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou are doing a good job, but you need to offer more opportunity to people to advance in their careers.

Fast growing company losing talent quickly

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at Reval

ProsThey are growing phenomenally fast. It's a case of the right company at the right place at the right time as auditors keep turning away spreadsheets as a way to formally value derivative instruments.
Expenses paid by large VC.
Flexibility to change work location.
Casual dress code
Starbucks coffee machine
Beer in the fridge

ConsYou will be micromanaged by someone not as intelligent as you.
Management seems to be anyone who started with the company
High turnover
Too many middle managers fighting over resources and ignoring the growth of the company
Too many chiefs and no Indians.
Recognition seems to be random
Promotions also seem to be random
Low Salary compared to other companies in the industry (Wallstreet, Sungard, Citi, etc..)
Once you're in a group you are stuck there unless you work in India.
Expenses paid by large VC

Advice to Senior ManagementDecrease the size of middle management.
Track Sales expenses
People stay for pay not experience in NY.

Review

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Reval

ProsFun and relatively easiy going atmosphere
Opportunities available to move within groups
Managers fairly cooperative when giving time off
Some of the senior managers do help out and believe in tranferring knowledge

ConsThe People in general are not very intellligent or highly educated (i,.e. masters)
Too much focus on the Sales guys, focus on rest of the groups is wanting
Pay is not very good
Promotions are completely random. Deserving people are left hanging if they dont know how to play the politics right.

Advice to Senior ManagementStart focusing on the other groups within the company
Bring the salaries up to par with the market
Definitely need a better system of recognizing talent

feedback "not fine any longer"

Manager (Current Employee)
Delhi (India)

I have been working at Reval full-time for more than 5 years

Pros- Bit flexibility to work timing and good for Freshers at least a job to start with.

Cons- Not enough Opportunity for experienced guys in any department in India
- Company is still not clear about the vision
- Not clear about the development platform (.net, java)
- Senior management in NYC is introvert and want to have keep the access with few employees, politics is making things worst and lack of transparency is also sensed, information sharing does not happen.
- Since 2 years HR head has become more dynamic and want to just execute what they think is the best.
 - HR and MD India keep on discussing in their cabins all day long and everyone keep on waiting to talk to MD.
- There are policies but senior management don’t apply them for all at least not to themselves
 - The product has gone so bad/ complex that it is not manageable any more
- wasting stakeholders time and money
- Environment is not that good which use to be earlier ; also the company is facing financial losses and due to which there is cost cutting but also biased so it may differ from department/person to person.
- Deserving are not the rewarding, NYC team wants to take control of everything and due to which you have to keep on attending meeting after office hours and many times impose tasks on you.
 - They have offices in some countries so they should have every department taking take of work to help every country which is not happening currently
- One any one is hired there are number of rounds however once they are said to leave there is no clear reasons.

Advice to Senior Management- tell the NYC staff to be nice to every one or just sell this company

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Used to be a great company - in serious decline

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Reval full-time for more than a year

ProsFlexible work arrangements for location/hours - easy to work from home when needed or come in a bit later after late night calls.

ConsUsed to be a really nice culture of people in 2012 when I joined. Hemorrhaging people with extreme cost cutting with no regard for employee happiness - turnover was nearly 25% last year!! Not replacing anyone who leaves all in a bid to save costs which just means loading down others with work. Pre-IPO companies should not be cutting costs so drastically it speaks of something very very wrong!

Loads of complaints about the quality of the product. Consultants spend loads of unbillable time fixing issues product should have sorted. No team to work on billable customer enhancements making it nearly impossible to get deals done.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake some feedback. As in SOME would be a start. Start a 360 feedback program. Provide everyone the opportunity to provide feedback to senior management team. Communicate. Something, anything would be a start. And finally be HAPPY for people when they leave to further their careers. Not even acknowledging someone's service when they depart reeks of a brats a child's birthday party not getting attention and not the behavior of a professional firm. I was told many times its 'not the Reval way' to announce departures, not even for people with the firm for 10 years.
