Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsOpportunities for growth and advancement, fair compensation package, interesting and varied job responsibilities, great brand presence and pride of the staff in the Revlon Brand and its history

ConsWork/Life balance needs to be improved in some depts, Sr. Management tends to initiate too many new company initiatives at one time, resulting in a heavier workload for the staff

Advice to Senior ManagementTo prioritize projects and to coach your staff through them. Work with staff to ensure that work/life balance is throughout the company

great place to retire not start

    Operator (Current Employee) Oxford, NC

Proscompetent management and pride. The working environment also felt like a family and alot of the hourly laborer had many years of service to the company.

ConsThe town is pretty boring and promotions were not too frequent. In addition, there wasnt really a close major university so that decreased the avenue for educational improvement

Advice to Senior ManagementInstill better training methodologies

Revlon needs to and must change their ways they treat the employees.

Machine Operator (Former Employee) Phoenix, AZ

ProsIt's a job to go for right out of school when you do not have any work experence. But get out when you have a chance.

ConsThere is not any fairness. They dont consider any family matters as important. The pay raises are very, very low. If you get any at all. The benifits are average. It dont pay to be there long term. No room for advancement. Not a good place for some to make a career out of.

Advice to Senior ManagementLighten up. Listen to your employees. Dont get rid of your valuable employees. You want to try and keep them as long as possible. They are the ones that make your business grow and prosper. To many people in management and not enough workers.

It's all about who you know

    Chemist (Current Employee)

ProsThey have good benefits for their employees compared with other companies in the same industry. Also, they offer some small company attitude to the larger business.

ConsThe company revolves around who you know rather then what you know. Their company training policy doesn't exist and there is a lack of motivation in a good deal of employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementMove into the 21st century, and reward good work rather then good looks. Innovation is something to be proud of, rather then looked down at.

Product Manager (Former Employee) New York, NY

Prosentrepreneurial environment, lots of prospects for learning

ConsFiscally challenged company, lean in staffing, constant restructuring

Advice to Senior ManagementCompany appears to be building momentum, keep it up

    Sinking ship

    Package Designer (Former Employee)

ProsGood name to have on resume. May lead to better position in other personal care companies.

ConsSince 2007 there were layoffs to try to recover management's mistakes. They never seemed to be able to make money, so they keep on cutting people. The company is a shell of the former cosmetic manufacturer it was in the late 80's and early 90's. A lot of talented people were let go and some old timers that should have been, are still there. The atmosphere has been gloomy for at least the last three years. It can only get better if the company is bought out by someone who has better business sense in the industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry new blood at levels. The old ways of doing business isn't working.

Great place to work and learn

Marketing (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsRevlon is great to work mainly because of the people. Everyone is nice, smart and fun. Depending on the brand, we run huge marketing campaigns. Also, it is a small company so everyone has visibility to senior management.

ConsRevlon has had many years of financial difficulty due in part failed product launches and bad marketing campaigns. Because of this, senior management holds all of the marketing power and brand managers don't get to make decisions without higher approval.

Advice to Senior ManagementAlan Ennis has been a strong leader since taking the post of CEO. Employees like him and trust the decisions he makes.

Struggling to make a break from the past

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Pros- Good intentions and willingness to try.
    - High levels of involvement
    - Small with ability to get your arms around the whole business

    Cons- Inward looking
    - Limited ambtion and unrealistic of what it takes to win
    - highly centralised with sr. mgt making all decisions without being fully in touch with market place realities
    - very arbitrary with one restructuring every 5-6 months. Rational for these never fully explained or beleived

Advice to Senior Management- Growth is hard - Doing same things that have been done in the past and expecting differnt outcomes is not sensible.
    - Empower people - If you dont take the decisions you are never going to have your skin in the game.
    - Have some stability in the business - no more changing strategies, structure or ppl.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
