I worked at Revlon (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, great career opportunities if you're interested, training used to be offered often

    Cons

Hard to find for me, some people liked complaining about upper management (some people always like to complain), but I liked my direct management

    Advice to Management

Communicate with employees more directly about initiatives (brands, promotions, etc.) so employees would feel like part of the process

  2. Overall good experience. Great place to start and get your foot in the door and learn.

    Pros

Great Brand and the compensation and benefits are good. Medical, Dental, LIfe insurance, discounts are great. Leadership under David Kennedy is good and business is turning around.

    Cons

Managers are moved into different teams and brands constantly whether employee likes it or not.

    Advice to Management

    Be more open with communication

    Pros

Revlon is great to work mainly because of the people. Everyone is nice, smart and fun. Depending on the brand, we run huge marketing campaigns. Also, it is a small company so everyone has visibility to senior management.

    Cons

Revlon has had many years of financial difficulty due in part failed product launches and bad marketing campaigns. Because of this, senior management holds all of the marketing power and brand managers don't get to make decisions without higher approval.

    Advice to Management

Alan Ennis has been a strong leader since taking the post of CEO. Employees like him and trust the decisions he makes.

    Pros

Fun, creative industry in the middle of New York City. Really nice working environment with smart, nice people. Large advertising campaigns.

    Cons

Revlon was in such a bad place financially, that they brought in finance people to straighten everything out. The financials have gotten so much better, but there are no marketing people at the top level. A brand-driven company should probably have some marketing input at the highest level...

    Advice to Management

Leadership is getting better all the time. As soon as the leaders trust what the workers are doing, the products will do even better.

    Pros

Many long term employees who care about the business. Opportunities are there if you work hard and are focused..

    Cons

The market category is volatile; when the company prospers employees do; when the economy is flat, that is when changes are made. Basic business principals followed.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your your biggest assets --- your employees

I worked at Revlon full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people, excellent chance to learn about the cosmetic industry. I was given many opportunities to advance during my time there.

    Cons

Can be "click-ish"! If you're not in the inner circle, you will not be recognized or commended for you work. Turn over rate is very high. Many come in and find out it's not what they expected.
