    Pros

You can take vacation whenever you want. Good place to start if you are right out of school. The company is desperate for young people to engage young smokers face-to-face. The company will embrace you and promote you quickly.

    Cons

VERY political. I could go on all day here. They treat everybody, employees, customer, consumers, like crap. They think by saying something it makes it so (we are ethical, passionate.....etc) They are anything but. Senior management has no clue. I was with them for 21 years, and the company lost share every year. Like playing for the Cubs- lose EVERY time. The company is hemorraging cash, and will probably soon be bought by a competitor.

    Advice to Management

    This company is beyond repair.

    Pros

Decent Pay, Company Car (free gas), decent benefits, good starting job for a young adult

    Cons

No Future due to Legislative issues, Most management is not worried about YOU, they are worried about THEM or the share holder of RAI. RJRT management employees have fallen into the trap of " I did this, so what have you done". People are promoted for ability to relocate vs. knowledge/effort/success. RJRT is becoming a "meat factory" comprable to the insurance companies. Management is "forcing" ideas down the throat of the industry, due to the declining market. The philosophy @ RJRT is "it is what it is", few have answers, and the ones that do are not permitted to speak up.

    Advice to Management

Good Luck, your philosophy's are broken. The only constant is change, whilst change is good, the level of orginization and moral are suffering, due to the lack of ANY consistency. Even YOUR philosophy's change every six months. You need to develop a clear and consistent VISION, that is applicable and profitable. Quit talking the talk, and start walking the walk or SOM/ Volume will continue to decline, and your brands will not be able to be revived.

    Pros

    Good salary and benefits package

    Cons

No room for advancement unless you network correctly. Promotions are based on knowing the right people rather than competence. Higher taxes and FDA regulation will eventually change what the current job position is drastically.

    Advice to Management

Remove all previously Brown & Williamson executives from CEO on down, and fix the massive favoritism within the organization. Fixing both of those issues would prevent the company from being used as a place for individuals to simply "move up the ladder" and then leave quickly; as well as prevent the company from rotting within due to low morale. You can not rely on constant turnover within the organization and still keep the morale. The morale is tanking, and tanking hard... as well as share.

    Pros

Salary is good for most positions and they give you a company car.

    Cons

Promotions are based on favoritism and politics, basically the good old boy system...no females have made it to Senior level management, only white males have been moved into the last 6 promotions. The company is full of very young, inexperienced entry and senior level managers. Upper management does not support their direct reports, instead they are more concerned with getting ahead themselves and will do anything to anyone who gets in their way. The company likes to promote what a great place it is to work but the majority of field sales and home office employees are extremely unhappy. Very high turnover in management and sales, in upwards of 30%. Management is unprofessional and leaks out personal information to anyone who will listen. This company is a wreck and no one cares because the American Spirit brand is growing and very profitable. The Executive Leadership Team is on loan from RJ Reynolds Tobacco and these ELT members are moving back to RJ Reynolds, so what do they care, well, they care about themselves and getting themselves ahead. This is a company where you watch your back, watch what you say because you never know who will be your boss tomorrow and you never know who will try to take you down, even for something you didn't do. It's such a sad state that a great brand is being managed by a not so great company.

    Advice to Management

Take a look around at the morale of the majority of employees, it's not a happy place, these people are faking it to keep their job. Employees are pissed that all promotions come out of California. You are overlooking very talented individuals who you are going to lose. It is a well known fact that women hit a glass ceiling at entry level management. How many more inexperienced white males are you going to promote Director? Employees are waiting and hoping for a merger with RJ Reynolds.

    Pros

Pay is good - especially for New Mexico. Benefits, so far, are fairly good.

    Cons

Favoritism is just awful here. Politics are horrific. Morale is at all time low. Employees are not treated with respect or fairly unless you're one of the favored ones. It's not what or how much you know but WHO you know in this company.

    Advice to Management

Senior management should think about Undercover Boss and what you might learn. Treat ALL employees with respect and value them and their work. Give a second chance for the package.

Reynolds alswasy provided good pay and benefts their employees

    Cons

No real leaders, performance ratings are based on your relationship with your manager not what you delivered. Brown Williams management brought back the good old boy promotion system and performance process,

    Advice to Management

Reduce the amount of senior managment. VP, Directors with no organization or budget responsibliies.

    Pros

    Cons

Division managers are supposed to mentor. I have been subjected to a manager that expects me to figure it out myself. Has NEVER given constructive comments or taught me any aspect of my job. How could I have been good enough to get promoted and suddenly I am "horrible"? I am going to have to leave this job because the mental anguish I am being put through is not worth it. Working over 60 hours a week to try to "figure it out on my own" because I am afraid to ask a question because this manager loves to fire people.

    Advice to Management

You have some rogue managers that need to "hit the road". You have people terrified that if they complain of unfair treatment they will be fired. Practice what you preach and value ALL employees.
