Pros
personally, the best reason is that it's close to home. There's an onsite gift shop and a cafeteria to go to when the weather is cruddy. Professionally speaking, there really is nothing positive about it anymore since Brockman took over.
Cons
employees are treated like children
no opportunity for growth
impossible goals
low pay
below average benefits
Big Brother mentality
"Good Ol' Boy" network
creativity not encouraged
Advice to Senior Management
treat your employees with respect and this company may turn around. If your employees are unhappy you will not be successful.
Pros
Experience, people, training. Not the money
Cons
Upper Management, prices too high for the market.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a clue on what is going on in the marketplace
Pros
Entry Level employees hired easily
Steady work as long as you don't need much money
Great for people with no IT experience or background
A lot of after hours activities
Cons
If you can't survive on under 40K for the next 5 years don't even think about it. For a good employee receiving High marks on every review you start under 30K (28 or 29) as a Network Technician and over 5 years you work your way through Desktop Support, through System Operations, and into an Engineer role and spend two years in that role and you will be making 40K if all goes well. You will have been doing an Engineer level job including the long hours for 40K a year. Money doesn't increase when you move to departments it simply grows based on reviews so while a 12K raise over 5 years sounds steady you will be making easily 10K less than your peers at other companies.
Advice to Senior Management
Show loyalty to your employees instead of treating them like cattle. Your bottom line is important but at what cost. You can't demmand loyalty from employees and then screw them over every chance you get.
Pros
Decent benefits (was one of the biggest pluses 6 months ago, but have since changed)
Good job security
Extremely easy workload
Cons
Company that is intent on the sure dollar with no desire for improvement
Miserable dress code, no tobacco, random drug tests, poor salaries
Advice to Senior Management
From a company perspective much makes since to keep cost down and profits high. Not sure how this company survives when the economy is decent though.
Pros
Some workmates were nice people.
Cons
- Low salary
- No recognition
- Horrible Management
- Benefits are bad
- They tell people you get to work with .Net, while 95% of the work is VB6!
Stay away from this company!
Advice to Senior Management
- Respect your employees.
- Learn how to manage an IT company.
- Don't lie!
Pros
Great sales training for 1 year to build a Resume! Perfect for 1st job out of college but leave after a year.
Cons
- completely arrogant management
- "sales people are a necessary evil"
- management favorite saying "Fire your people before they either get you fired or fire you themselves"
Advice to Senior Management
Start respecting your employees again! Reynolds used to be a team, now people are just waiting for other opportunities to leave.
Pros
Nothing any longer. Reynolds is a good place to start if you are straight out of school. But staying any longer than 2 or 3 years would be a big mistake.
Cons
The company actually appears to hate their customers.
Employees are considered a necessary evil. Not getting a raise for 4 years (since the merger with UCS) along with a 10% pay cut at the height of the recession pretty much says it all! Plus no hint of getting that 10% back now that we are coming out of the recession.
Starting in 2011, medical insurance is a joke.
Advice to Senior Management
Show that you care about your employees.
Start working "with' your customers in coming up solutions to help with their business.
Pros
Management is to busy saving their own necks that they leave the sales people alone.
Cons
Terrible pay structure
Terrible environment to work in
Advice to Senior Management
Pull your head out of the sand and listen to your salespeople and your customers
Pros
VERY in-depth training process ensures that you know your job and are not just thrown into the mix.
Monthly reviews with management let you know how well you're doing and what could be improved upon.
Beautiful campus.
Food is good, and there is NO pressure to eat at the cafeteria, despite what other reviews say.
Everyone is extremely nice -- people smile or say hi when passing one another in the halls. The atmosphere is very upbeat and positive -- everyone who was disgruntled by the merger has left, and the remainders are new hires who are grateful to have a job and loyal employees who are happy with their positions.
Rigorous pre-employment testing ensures that your coworkers are intelligent and competent. It's a huge plus to work with people who understand words with more than five letters and the concept of grammar.
Bob Brockman's political statements are more to be laughed at than taken seriously. Bottom line, he owns the company. He has the right to say whatever he wants, whether anyone else likes it or not. Yes, he talks about politics, but seriously, who really cares? It doesn't take up the entire meeting and most people tune him out anyway.
My managers are very helpful and always willing to work with me whenever I need time off. Other employees make a huge effort to include new hires and help as much as they can.
You basically make your own schedule and I've been told that overtime is a myth, at least in my department. So far I've never worked more than 40 hours.
Hiring is done from within -- if you're not happy with your department or looking to try something different, it's quite easy to switch.
Overall, I've been very happy with my new job and have been recommending it to my friends. The merger might have upset a lot of people, but for those who are left, it's not really an issue anymore. We're all grateful to have a good job at a stable company that offers perks that we wouldn't get at many other places.
Cons
The pay is lower than I was initially told and not exceptionally competitive. However, there is supposedly a significant increase after the trial period.
Health benefits are seriously horrid.
Vacation and sick days are pretty awful for the first couple of years, but competitive thereafter.
Four-month "trial period" means you can't use any earned vacation or sick days and are not eligible for any benefits until you're deemed a full employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Think seriously about investing in better healthcare options.
Offer more competitive wages -- you could be missing out on a lot of good workers who simply cannot afford to accept the pay.
Pros
good benefits, matches 401 k up to 6 percent
good health insurance
great starter career
every one is really friendly and nice
thorough training
Cons
low paying job
not very much room for advancement
poor decisions for health and food is not an option in vending machines and cafeteria
Advice to Senior Management
provide more feedback to employees af status and their work productivity
no other complaints that i can think of for the management
