    Pros

They seemed to understand when things were working don't fix it at least as far as I was concerned...even though my position was eliminated, they brought me back on a temporary basis and allowed me to finish out the job I was really good at.

    Cons

Sometimes Corporate in Denver doesnt understand the needs of the Eastern Shore of Maryland

    Advice to Management

Don't do across-the-board cuts, analyze what you have working for you

    Pros

They always believed in me and kept me on when they had to let others go

    Cons

Because it's a National Corporation, it was sometimes hard to get your ideas up the ladder

    Pros

New Home Sales Associate, came in as a trainee and have been very impressed with the team, leadership from my Sales Director (Bridget Linderman) and entire group in the corporate office. From the Division President to the closing coordinator, they all encourage and push the Sales team to be the best we can. I am very happy for the company and the product I sell! Run, don't walk to the interview!

    Cons

None-this company is conservative in terms of building "smart"...a strong company and strong values.

    Advice to Management

Very excited they are offering a new program for recruits...Richmond is paying for real estate school and other associated costs in getting your license while working for the company! On the job training...if you will.

    Pros

Well compensated, plenty of opportunity to earn, good support from managers and a company with premier market position and financial backing.

    Cons

VERY difficult to move up with limited career path opportunities. Sell or be fired. Politics are paramount and and many times take precedence over actual ability, production or merit.

    Advice to Management

Recognize talent and reults over political pressures and meaningless gossip. Numbers and production are great indicators of merit that deserve consideration for adcancement.

    Pros

The people that work there are the biggest asset. It was a joy and a pleasure to be able to work with each one.

    Cons

The forced layoff situation was sad and disappointing. It was, however, completely understandable, considering the affect the economy had on the new home marketplace. The consumer demand had just dried up.

    Advice to Management

None, really. It was a well run, enjoyable company to work with.

    Pros

-Amazing Management (Keep open communication with them and they will be open with you) -Compensation (If you aren't on target to make over $100K you are doing something wrong) -Brand Loyalty (Richmond is a household name and buyers recognize Richmond for their quality of home) -Support (My manager and the marketing team have been very open to new ideas and helping me grow my community) -Awards (Silly, I know, however it feels good to know you did a good job!) - Training (Richmond provides the best traning program I know of. You have daily training calls and they empower you in your personal / professional life.)

    Cons

-Work / Life Balance (Plan on working 50+ hours a week and recently we have had training on our days off. I'm going into my 4th 1 day weekend. This is NOT a position for someone who wants to do the bare minimum and just "get by") -No Base Salary (They pay on a draw system, so while you may be receiving a check every 2 weeks, it will be months before you see a real paycheck.) -Partners. (Richmond has created a very competitve sales floor. I have heard the good and bad. I am neutral about my sales partner. My partner has been with the company for a few years and while I enjoy working with my partner, he/she has put me in many tough situations that I have felt could cost me my postion. This is true with ANY home builder, not just Richmond.)

    Advice to Management

-Schedule training during work hours. We work VERY hard on our scheduled days and need a 2 day weekend to recharge. -Assign tasks to Sales Associates in each office, so one Sales Associate is not stuck doing EVERYTHING. I have often felt it would be easier to have my office alone than with my sales partner. I do 99% of the work and my partner only shows up for the glory moments. There is no way to bring this up to management without throwing my partner "under the bus".
