    Pros

Ricoh University is a great training and information asset for Ricoh Sales Executives. Compensation is fair and perks help when the sales process becomes a bit of a grind. Upward mobility is realistic and current employees often receive first consideration which creates and environment of great internal promotion.

    Cons

Some sales managers don't direct more of their focus on profitability of the account executives which of course would increase the overall numbers ($$$$$) of, account executive, sales manager and branch. Service issues were a continual repetitive issue. Some clients/customers did not have a full understanding of the use of equipment and often utilized their machines in ways that were not conducive for good functionality of the equipment. Others would often ignore tips and advice from technicians,(who were very knowledgeable,) and purchased equipment/machines that were not manufactured for the level of use that the clients/customers utilized the machines for.

I have been working at Ricoh Americas Corporation full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

As an AE you control what you make. Commission caps are high but margins are low. Lots of independence depending on your manager and if you hit your numbers

    Cons

No one wants to buy copiers. The software and document management solutions are coming along, but there is no incentive to sell them. Best commissions pay out for equipment and that part of the industry is becoming obsolete.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest more in solution development. Products/Services for doc mgmt and cloud tech are not up to snuff with rest of the tech space. Also incentivize and train the sales teams to sell software solutions.

I have been working at Ricoh Americas Corporation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Steady paycheck, benefits, Fortune 500 reputation

    Cons

Zip code based territories with all the good credit worthy accounts taken out and given to list based reps and major accounts. No marketing materials are provided, reps are to create them. Commissions decrease every year and the company does not pay fair monthly expenses, it does not even cover gas money alone. You will work late and on weekends not a 8-5 job and no overtime is paid. Quotas go up while number of accounts go down and they tell reps to sell more to current customers. Not enough sales support so deals take too long to close. Printing hardware is a dying industry and Ricoh is very late to the game for IT services.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees with more respect and listen to them or at the very least take a business class so you know how to operate in the new age of business and management.

I have been working at Ricoh Americas Corporation full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers are decent people, very respectful and very cordial
Products are best in the industry
    Training is plentiful

    Cons

    Training is too vague
    Reliance upon Salesforce
Pricey (Ricoh is losing market share to Konica, Sharp and Samsung)
    Internal battles to protect territories
    TOO MANY VERTICLES
Pay is well below industry average
Major account executives are catered to, but rising star account executives are constantly being asked, "What are you selling this month"
Cost of goods sold is well above industry average (this means there is too much fat to pay for)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

First of all, change the corporation to become far less dependent on Salesforce (you advise us to become too expensive to fire, but it looks like Salesforce has beat you to that mantra)
Get rid of the fat, the cost of goods sold is too high because there is too much fat. The support to sales ratio is roughly 3 to 2, which means there are too many people who no one seems to know what they exactly do but they've been there forever, so they will continue to get paid at the expense of rising star sales reps (yes, we get recruitment calls WEEKLY to jump ship..one has even offered a huge sign on bonus). Most importantly, train the trainers before you ask them to train us.

    Pros

Tenured, knowledgeable people. Great work environment. Flexible. Attaining over 100% of plan is very achievable if you are self-motivated.

    Cons

Lots of wasted money. Too large of a territory/spread VERY thing. Maybe too diverse in product offering.
