    Pros

    It is a great company, the discount is great specially on x-mas time. Great people to work with. Happy environment most of the times.

    Cons

    Vacation and pay rate is not up to standards.

    Pros

    Decent discount during December, but recent changes by over zealous upper management makes it not worth ordering.

    the company putt their own positive review on here to better themselves which should tell you something

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees with some respect as you hired them for their knowledge! Bullying gets you no where other than high turnover.

    I worked at Riedel Crystal (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    It's hard to find any. Maybe the discount.

    Cons

    Retaliation is the norm. Management strikes terror in the heart of employees. To the point that workers are frightened to speak to each other about anything and forget about mentioning issues to upper management in Austria. Communication with them not only needs pre-approval, but corrective action is taken if one does so. The word team is nonexistent. Coworkers are forced to rat each other out or lose their jobs themselves. Jobs previously done by multiple people are forced on one person or paycuts are made without CEO knowing who moved to Austria. Benefits and perks cut without warning. Broken promises, MICROMANAGEMENT, lies, deceit, backstabbing. Owners would be ashamed if they knew what became of their company.

    Advice to Management

    Respect your employees. Let them have a voice rather than struggle through the day in fear. Satisfied employees equal a productive work environment. Job satisfaction means more than a free lunch on occasion.

    Pros

    great brand to be proud of.

    Cons

    Favoritism, high stress environment, high employee turnover, HR instructed to perform damage control on negative comments on pages like this.

    Advice to Management

    Employees are aware of favoritism. This has to stop as it creates severe morale issues. Certain people are allowed to dictate what they will/won't do for their job description. Again, employees see this and it does not sit well. High turnover continues..internal problems continue...when will this finally be addressed?

    Pros

    Excellent employee discount, good healthcare benefits and coverage, camaraderie amongst co-workers, benefit of learning about the wine and spirits industry, invitation to participate in special events. There is much room for growth in the company. Learning is encouraged, they want their employees to grow and educate themselves as much as possible. They recognize their employees who go above and beyond what is required. They encourage employees to participate in Company events. They do a summer and a winter event for employees and their families. Through the year they also do outside events to encourage cohesiveness amongst employees.

    Cons

    For a large company, their employee count is small. Some people juggle several different tasks and job duties at the same time, sometimes can be overwhelming. For the employees who travel, they are expected to be at work the next day after traveling for long lengths (especially from Europe). It is hard to list the Cons because no matter what company one may go to, there will always be stress and difficult times. However, one must realize that Riedel Crystal is no different from any other company that is in the industry. Riedel expects a lot from their employees, but no more than what any other company would expect.

    Advice to Management

    Understanding that there must be more of a work/life balance.

    Pros

    World renowned brand, perks of being in the wine, beer and spirits world, leaders in industry, young CEO with a forward thinking mindset, pleasant coworkers. The best part is going to a party or conference and having people say, 'OH wow, you work for Riedel..!'. There isn't any idea that is scoffed at. HR team assists with questions and issues.

    Cons

    Location isn't favorable as I am not a fan of New Jersey.

    Great employee discount especially during Christmas.

    Cons

    Human Resource Department not useful. Infighting is encouraged. The lack of manpower to perform all the duties required needs to be resolved. Issues whether work related or personal are considered insignificant is appalling. If a person is sick or needs some time off, he or she is given a hard time even when he has the time. Good employees have left without anyone being informed. Their work load was dispersed among already overburdened employees.

    Advice to Management

    Upper Management needs to watch tone to their employees. More meetings need to take place between staff and upper management since there is no communication.

    Pros

    Excellent brands that you are proud to be associated with. If you are one of the lucky ones to be picked to travel, the hotels are 5 star, and you get to eat at some incredible restaurants. Employee discounts at Christmas time are generous.

    Cons

    Hard work and long hours are not recognized, causing low moral and back stabbing amongst employees. No consistency in office policies, they are constantly changed in order to protect certain individuals. High turnover of office staff. No one stays once they see how things are run by upper management. Anyone who has any longevity there has only stayed due to the problems with the economy, and are currently all looking for other employment. Upper management pits employees against each other in hopes of finding out information that could lead to layoff's or firing of certain individuals. Three sick days a year with no personal days is not adequate. You also get the third degree if you happen to call in sick. Not very understanding when it comes to personal problems.

    Advice to Management

    Please stop treating your employees like they don't know anything. Many of us have worked for companies larger than Riedel and can actually contribute some good ideas to help things run more smoothly. Trust us! We don't steal glasses! Also, please stop the verbal abuse as well, rather speak to us like the professionals that we are!

    Pros

    Riedel has a great prestige brand with a nice following. There is a beautiful showroom in New York City and around the world. Working with the manufacturing plant in Germany was a positive experience. They have a great team there who are always willing to problem solve and offer their support.

    Cons

    The office environment in NJ is abusive. They lack training and cross training of departments. The operating system is from the 80s the and warehouse inventory systems are archaic and inefficient in meeting modern customer needs. The chain of decision makers is unclear and plagued by a 6 hr time difference. There are no clear job descriptions and many employees wear many hats. High turn over due to caustic working environment, limited opportunity for career growth, and an absence of HR presence devalues the work place.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house! Get rid of the 'management by fear' upper managers and bad seeds. Cultivate an environment of mutual respect and collaboration. Take some tips from the Germans and offer decent vacation and sick time instead of the ten day legal minimum.

    Pros

    Great Brand, generous employee discount, and some pleasant co-workers.

    Cons

    Crisis in the office on a constant basis. Management needs to be gutted and replaced! Backstabbing co-workers to save their own jobs. Sick time is inadequate. HR is not very informative on company policies, or help with insurance issues. Hostile environment for employees to work in due to mismanagement. Warehouse procedures are antiquated and need to be upgraded. Employee turn around is very bad.

    Advice to Management

    Learn how to know who your dedicated employees are and what they mean to the company!Take time once a year to review employees on job performance on a one to one basis. You must have a job procedure format for each department for your offices to run smoothly. No procedure means no rules and constant change in the way things are handled. Upgrade the warehouse procedures so you have an accurate inventory count, and loss of orders to be shipped.
