I worked at Riesbeck Food Markets full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Close nit relationship between stores and corporate office. Support available from leadership at corporate as well as outside vendors. Flexibility. Pay increases every 6-12 months. Premium pay for working Sundays and holidays.

    Cons

Store level work is hard work - you will do lifting and stocking. Boxes can get heavy at times.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. Appreciate your internal applicants for available positions rather than always looking externally.

I have been working at Riesbeck Food Markets

    Pros

The people who work for Riesbecks are wonderful and genuine.
    Staff is knowledgeable and well-trained.
    Customer focus.
    Cleanliness of the workplace.
    Good attitudes throughout the company.
    Fair compensation.

    Cons

You will have to work weekends.
There have been times when someone else's seniority has stopped me from getting a day off.
The job can sometimes including lifting and standing on your feet - if you work in a store and not the corporate office, you will most likely at one time or another have to pick up some heavy boxes and stock shelves.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work! Possibly work on career development of talented employees... make sure employees are aware that there is a future in the food market/supermarket industry. Develop and train future managers.

    Pros

    Decent pay for position
Ability to work around school schedules
    Decent hours
    Excellent after school job
    Friendly managers and supervisors

    Cons

Seems like you have to be related to the family that owns the company to have any chance of moving into a decent position in a reasonable time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote more qualified people, not just family.
