I worked at Rimage full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Rimage has been doing the same thing for thirty years and, despite the market declining, they continue to get good results out of what they've got. Solid job, nice people.

    Cons

I worked in marketing and there was not a lot of innovation in terms of how they presented themselves to the world, they're set in their ways and that's how they like it. In terms of office space and corporate culture they have a few get-togethers (mostly based around cake) but that's about it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work should make you want to show up in the morning, as it stands it oftentimes feels like "Office Space" day in day out the same stuff.

    Pros

    Learn new technologies
Good location, near to Youtube. Good restaurants

    Cons

One of the most horrible leadership in San Bruno.
Engineering 3 chiefs + Indian politics = disaster

I have been working at Rimage full-time

    Pros

Good way to get experience if you're in a lower level position
    Co-workers
    Benefits
New line of business is growing, interesting

    Cons

    Rapidly declining core business
No future career opportunities if you work in the legacy business, management seems to have no intention of transitioning capable employees to the new line of business.
Management focuses exclusively on new business to the detriment of old

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell employees the plan for ongoing employment in core business. We all know business is not going well.

I worked at Rimage full-time for less than a year

    Pros

The working environment was a positive one that fostered growth and teamwork. While individual achievement was strongly encouraged, the interconnected nature of the multiple levels of the organization reigned supreme. I've never worked with a more intelligent, competent executive corps.

    Cons

The only con I can think of is that the space in which the company operates is a fairly small space and one that isn't necessarily an exciting one. However, the company is aggressive in pursuing contemporary solutions and innovative processes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue being fair, ethical and treating staff with respect and the company will continue to grow and thrive.

I have been working at Rimage

    Pros

    - Great people
    - Fun products
    - Very decent benefits
    - Management cares about the people who work for them

    Cons

    - Small, flat company means limited career growth
    - There is a growing divide between people who work on the core products and people who work on the new products

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest with people. If there's no room for advancement, let people know and let them move on if they choose to do so.

I have been working at Rimage

    Pros

Work/Life balance is great and the culture is relaxed. Most people are friendly and willing to assist when they can. The vision is there for bridging the technology and company for the future. Need to exicute.

    Cons

Weak management at the sr level and communication is not clear. Legacy personnel in many positions need to be top graded to assist this company to get to the next level. Comp packages are around the 50% mark for similar positions in the MSP market, you get what you pay for. Also need to invest some money in HQ building, as it's old, dirty, and has no character.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Evaluate personnel from a 360 degree view and Top Grade with stronger comp plans.

    I worked at Rimage

    Pros

Nice co-workers, decent benefits, good location, good work life balance.

    Cons

Poor executive leadership (the current CEO was canned from Seagate)

No direction with a dying product. They are currently trying to compete with all the big players (Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc.) by developing a niche product for cloud computing.

Very old and uncomfortable office. This is basically a start up, with a high failure percentage.

No room to move. The job you take is the job you will stay in. They bring all of their upper management and leadership in from outside the company without even looking at talent within.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quite being so arrogant, laying people off while giving yourselves full bonuses, and tell employees the truth when they sign on that the company is struggling and their is very limited potential for upward mobility. Rimage will die a slow death.

    I worked at Rimage

    Pros

    - Corporate employees have fairly flexible schedule and do not work long hours
    - Midwestern "Minnesota nice" atmosphere where generally people are friendly, very little office politics

    Cons

    - Top management has been ineffective and tyrannical, forced out many good people
    - Company has an arrogant streak that does not reflect reality of it's marginal products & service

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Speed up the pace of change
    - Clear out the 'dead wood'
    - Focus on the customers and the partners that matter and let the rest go away

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO
