I worked at Ringling School of Art & Design part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Depending on what department you work for you basically have unlimited access to whatever you want or need, most if not all of the facility and staff are also eager to help. On top of that you basically get paid to do your class work.

    Cons

Good luck getting time off, you're better off just not showing up if you need time off and taking some heat from students.

I have been working at Ringling School of Art & Design part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, can study during idle time, good community

    Cons

Minimum wage when it should be higher, some supervisors are better than others

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise the pay, students are already paying around 10k-20k a semester to go there, and they most definitely can't afford to pay a chunk of living expenses with just 6-20 hours a week on minimum wage.

I have been working at Ringling School of Art & Design

    Pros

Work for Madeby Gallery on campus. They are great to work for because you learn about the gallery business and the local consumers. You get to work on school grounds connecting with other students advising them of the great opportunity they have to sell thier work at the gallery and during down time you get to work on school projects which is great to keep up with the school work load.

    Cons

The pay is minimum wage and you get very few hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good work

    Pros

Good reputation of college in the community, and friendly, respectful co-workers.

    Cons

They don't look before they leap into something or, on the flip side, they talk a project to death. Bureaucracy at it's worst. Too many people with oversight responsibilities who are able to stop a project in its tracks. Although everyone is respectful and pleasant, progress is sllllllooooooowwww.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have written plans and quantitative goals before launching projects. While it's great to have groups discuss plans, without a clear time frame for completion and a good understanding of the goal of the project, groups can flounder in discussion. No more than 5 key people in a discussion group.
