Pros
flexible, decent company compared to cvs
Cons
horrible senior management decision to buy eckard/brooks stores
Advice to Senior Management
i think john standley after he took over has been doing a pretty good job, but i still feel that some of managements decisions are short sighted
Pros
good partime job for young kids
Cons
low pay.
no career opportunities beyond partime
Advice to Senior Management
No, they are helpful
Pros
Had a wonderful supervising pharmacist. Most fellow employees were a delight to work with. Schedule was fairly flexible.
Cons
Pay scale was very low for the amount of work and responsibility required. Was required to go through the Rite Aid certification course and test even though I had been nationally certified for 5 years. Upper management had no clue what it was like to work in the store.
Advice to Senior Management
Require district managers to actually work in the pharmacy for 2-3 years before being in a management position.
Pros
good management and good customer service
Cons
bad reputation and company closing down stores
Advice to Senior Management
n/a
Pros
Most coworkers are excellent people, fun to work with, and knowledgeable. My peers enjoy the practice as much as I do, and the public sees it.
Cons
The staffing levels are quite lean, in some cases leading to hours long backlogs of work, with no time for a break.
Advice to Senior Management
Please allow for more manpower behind the bench to properly serve the patients, and to maintain a proper inventory of pharmaceuticals.
Pros
experience as a pharmacy technician that is required for better jobs
Cons
outrageous customers, forced to do multiple jobs at once without adequate tools and time, not enough help, required to stand all day, low pay, no opportunity for growth, no raises, bad benefits
Advice to Senior Management
hire more help, give raises
Pros
Health care benefits are pretty good. Co-workers can be pretty nice at some stores. Computer system for pharmacy is pretty easy to learn.
Cons
Pay is low, not a lot of respect for Pharmacy Technicians/ Pharmacy Cashiers. High turnover rate in some stores. In many stores, the pharmacy and the front end are treated as different divisions. Upper Management (PDM/DM) have a tendency not to support you if there are issues with co-workers or your manager. Not enough training when you start with the company; if you don't catch on quick in the pharmacy you become a cashier. Most technicians or pharmacist won't help if you have questions the first few months you are there. If you work on the float team, there are times you may have to drive to Port Angeles or Sequim; the reimbursement rate for gas is cheap and under federal reimbursement guidelines. Some pharmacists are indifferent or mean, along with some technicians. Some of the customers that come in for their meds every month can be VERY CHALLENGING. If you speak Spamish or Russian, you will translate for everyone in the store. If a pharmacist or other technician complains about your work, there is a possibility you can be transferred to another store or put on the float team. HR (Human Resources) will not support you if you have problems; the PDM/DM will have your hours cut until you either quit or are fired. I have seen pharmacists throw baskets at technicians and yell at them in front of customers/ co-workers. People will gossip behind your back and the whole store will know if you have been written up before you do. I would not recommend working for Rite Aid at all.
Advice to Senior Management
I would offer advice or feedback; however, during my tenure any recommendation to Upper Mananagement or my immediate supervosor/ manager was dismissed constantly.
Pros
-flexible schedule
-nice coworkers
-lpdm is realistic and flexible
-pay is good
Cons
-long boring hours
-scum of the earth clientele
-dm and store managers all have something to say on how to do your job
-high turnover rate
Advice to Senior Management
-improve your training methods, not just on how to apprehend but also how to defend oneself
-be realistic and defend your agents, too many changes and demands from all sides of management. dont let paper pushers tell you what to do, especially the old timers who actually know how to do this job.
Pros
Rite Aid as a company to work for is only good for the decent pay , and vast amount of different people you will meet. Its also a really simple job once you have the right management.
Cons
You will almost never have the right management, company systems and polices change overnight constantly, and it oh so difficult to get promoted from the ground up. The company is drastically scrambling to stay afloat and it shows in the day to day operations.
Pros
Flexible schedule; coworkers are really nice; I really like working in retail.
Cons
Upper management has recently cut way back on man hours it gives each store while increasing the work load. Now the stores in our Atlanta district are operating on overworked, skeleton staffs. We are falling further behind each day on our tasks with no way to catch up. I just hate going to work, now. The store is in kayos, and this is a big welcome sign for the riffraff and shoplifters.
Advice to Senior Management
Fire the top execs & board who are cutting cost the wrong way instead of cutting the vast amount of waste I witness every day on the store level. I know they care about only the stockholders, but the stores are out of control! What are the investors going to do when they hear of stores beginning to close, which is where RAD is headed if something isn't changed quickly.
