    Pretty good employer

    Assistant Manager (Current Employee)
    Norfolk, VA

ProsI loved the people I worked with and they trained me very well. I loved that my hours were consistent and I had every other weekend off.

ConsI was expected to live, eat, and breath the company for little pay. I wasn't making enough to support my family

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your managers more.

It was good, I worked at a Rite Aid Pharmacy in Baltimore, MD.

    Pharmacy Technician (Former Employee)
    Baltimore, MD

ProsI think it's a pretty reputable pharmacy and they have good training programs.

ConsI personally didn't find any cons, but I didn't want to go to school to be a pharmacist, so I cut my experience there short.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy management was pretty good, I do think pharmacy technicians could be paid a little more considering the type of work they perform.

    Gained invaluable experience

    Production & Shipping (Former Employee)
    Lancaster, CA

ProsI worked at the distribution center, not a store. The job was physically demanding at times, but overall, it was an easy job for the pay. I worked my way up very quickly and was making decent money in no time. Personally, I think the employees are paid more than what the job is worth. The distribution center had a gym that was free to use for employees and their family members, as well as pool tables, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. The DC also held various employee functions and competitions to keep work somewhat fun.

ConsManagement was horrible. Unorganized, unprofessional, rude. My department manager always treated employees like children, yet half the time he didn't know what he was talking about. He liked to micro-manage from his office instead of letting the leads on the floor do their job.

Advice to Senior ManagementFirst, stay current. You can't manage people well if you don't even understand the job that they do. Second, treat your employees with respect. People will be much more likely to work hard for you if you do!

    An Okay Job, I Suppose.

    Store Manager (Former Employee)

ProsRite Aid has a great training program for Store Managers called the MIT program. They have classes as well as being able to work alongside seasoned store managers to learn the ropes of running the business.

ConsA con of the training program however is that the stores are on a very light payroll budget, and you will be basically doing a lot of grunt work at the stores to get all the tasks accomplished. Managers can basically end up treating you just like an extra employee to help them get all the work done, forgetting that you are needing trained on back office functions of the store. Also, Rite Aid preaches the Wellness promise, however, new employees get NO vacation or sick time your first year on the job, which I think is HORRIBLE! Hello, you are working in a pharmacy and around sick people all the time, you are going to catch things, then have to take time off for your own illness and not get paid, I think that is horrible.

Advice to Senior ManagementRe-evaluate payroll situations at your stores. You have your managers busting their butts trying to get it all accomplishes because payroll does not allow anymore people to be put on the schedule. It is exhausting.

    Understaffed nightmare!

    Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Medford, NY

ProsCoworkers are some of the best people I've worked with

ConsConstantly understaffed, I would be running the entire front end of the store practically alone.
Minimum wage, bad hours, work every holiday

Advice to Senior ManagementCare and treat your employees with respect. Give a higher wage, hire more people

    Extremely Poor Management

    Wellness Ambassador (Current Employee)
    New York, NY

ProsCo-Workers are the only good part of the job.

ConsExceedingly low pay rates in comparison to other companies
    Company has 0 personality
No freedom to do anything/Ideas or innovations are not taken into consideration
Corporate level personnel are quite often inept
    Little to no upward movement

Advice to Senior ManagementFix the pay structure, it really is appalling. All store employee salaries are exceedingly low in comparison to other businesses of similar nature, and the inner pay structure is quite disjointed as well.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
