Pros
The computer system for prescription order entry is superior. Nice employee discount and a network of thousands of locations with postition transfer capabilities.
Cons
As for the west coast... High turnover of upper management! Training is non-existent, poor follow through on corporate programs, lack of communication with Headquarters on the east coast. Low pay for pharmacy technicians and treated poorly. Mid-level retail pharmacist pay and treated worse.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in training for your pharmacists, especially RPh managers: a 3 ring binder and a name tag that says manager does not a manager make! As for the technicians: provide more growth opportunities and better compensation to reduce the loss of your key personell.
Pros
networking with co-workers and some customers
Cons
The second you show any leniency, management walks all over you.
There is no praise for hard work.
They only pick out everything that's not done and criticize you for it.
Unrealistic expectations pertaining to allotted time to finish work.
Lazy co-workers who abuse "cigarette breaks".
No help when needed.
Extremely rude customers when it comes to discounts and coupons.
If you are a supervisor, you will be sent all over the area to different locations sometimes hours away.
No set schedule. They will change your schedule mid week and not notify you about it.
Not worth the money.
Advice to Senior Management
Organization.
Listen to sales associates who actually work on the floor.
Realistic promotions and benefits.
Get coupons and prices in order and make them final in the computer. Management changes prices to please a customer so they don't get a bad review.
Update the computer system.
Change everything.
Pros
Customer service opportunities, first job opportunity, easy (too easy) hiring practices and interviews, Good way to see what hard work really is.
Cons
Terrible Pay, horrible bonuses, bare-minimum pay raises, Ridiculous and unorganized management. No team spirit, boring, meaningless work, expect to work late if you close.
Pros
Good salary. Glad to have a job during these tough economic times.
Cons
Working holidays etc. Probably all going to be open for Xmas this year. Cut budgets a great deal this year, especially in the Rx. And right after introducing the 15 minute guarantee. That just shows how clueless corp is right there.
Advice to Senior Management
John Standley needs to be on an episode of Undercover Boss. Also, this new G.E.T. program is a joke. Greeting, engaging, and thanking customers should be a no brainer. We need to hire good people, and be able to entice them to stay. Better raises, or more raise opportunities in a year. You also think that because there are 44 million members in the Wellness + program we are winning lots of customers. I think 44 million people just want the sale prices. If it wasn't mandatory to get the sale prices, you would probably have 4000 members.
Pros
cool place to work workig environment is very good..
Cons
low pay rate.stress in work
Advice to Senior Management
increase the pay rate
Pros
Good coworkers, Flexible schedule while going to school, management at the store level was good for the most part, customer interaction.
Cons
Little room for growth and development for those that are college grads but dont want to go the pharmacy school route, no PBM, lack of leadership a the senior levels resulting in under performing stores.
Advice to Senior Management
Incorporate things that add value to the stores, retail pharmacies are driven by convenience define what separates the company from competitors.
Pros
Fun, easy going atmosphere.
Manager was very pleasant to work with and treated all employees with respect.
Customers were nice
Cons
Stand on your feet your entire shift
Photo lab was being removed piece by piece, so there were some unsatisfied customers
Advice to Senior Management
Realize that just because some of the plan-o-grams may work at the company store, they don't work at every store
Pros
The people I work with for the most part are very helpful and very good to work with. My store manager is very flexible with time off and works very hard with associates to ensure work is done. When work for this company you will learn the basics of retailing at its most basic level.
Cons
The corporate does not value its employees at the store levels. They are very behind in software development and information technology services. They do not answer or take a very long time to answer brite ideas which are suggestions for improvement. When they do answer they give answers and are incomplete.
New software that is released is very bugging requiring them to go back and patching making more difficult for store employees to use. The new sign system while in walk sequence order is nice but the one to one ratio where every sku on sale in that section gets a sign and this makes it very time consuming for store associates to put up. The corporate gives out very payroll numbers for stores that decreases the amount of help.
Advice to Senior Management
1st: Remove the one to one ratio for signs to reduce time for employees to put up
2nd: Work on accelerating software and information technology development and get better developers to ensure on post patches
3rd: Work on providing reasonable payroll allocations to stores and if the store doesn't make money work on relocating stores or closing them.
4th: When employees put in brite ideas respond to them if they make work more efficient work quickly to implement them
5th: Reduce the amount of paper printed by registers by using a quantity key and signing at pin pad and store them electronically to make them easier to find later like credit sales, void sales, etc
6th: When a customer wants to buy a $100 or dollars have the register ask for cashier to enter id via scanning it and store information electronically.
Pros
Rite Aid does offer a great benefits package including health, dental and vision for full time employees. They also have a 401 retirement plan and stock options.
Cons
The salaries are all over the place.New employees may start out at a higher wage than those that have been there for years.Rite Aid is following in the trend of part time workers and no benefits. Some stores are union and some are not.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs more communication with employees. They really need to create a new position between shift supervisor and cashier. Days off should be more equitable to all.
Pros
The only few good reasons to work at Rite Aid are the flexible hours and easy work...it is definitely easy, mindless money.
Cons
1. The pay is the lowest in the drug store industry.
2. This is with many places, you can be there for four years and only be getting paid .60 more than what you were hired at but people getting hired now will be starting out more than you!
3. Only one pay increase a year and it's only 2%!
Advice to Senior Management
Upper management cares nothing about what you have to say or add to the company...especially if it involves spending a little to make a little.
