    Shift Supervisor

    Shift Supervisor (Former Employee)
    Whittier, CA

ProsSimple enough work. I was hired as an associate one summer and became a Supervisor one year later. I worked for three different stores and each one had a great management staff and team to work with. I liked how corporate was really pushing for customer service satisfaction.

ConsUnpredictable customers, but that's retail for you. Difficult to find hrs

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more understanding toward associates who absolutely have no choice but to call out. Last manager always through call outs in the face of associates more often than necessary.

Uncomfortable, always fearful of job lost

    Warehouse (Former Employee)
    Lancaster, CA

ProsThe associates are great to work with.

ConsPoor treatment of the workers. Associates treated like second rate people. Associates are not respected or acknowledge for their ideas .

Advice to Senior ManagementRespect the associates and treat them dignity and respect. Get rid of the senior managers.

It was a lot of work

    APDM (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsGot to travel to various parts of the company with yearly trade shows in different states. It was a good company to gain some experience and to utilize as a stepping stone. Nice perks with company vehicles and travel account as well as not too tight with expense.

ConsVery low pay for the salary. The stock is not doing too well so no stock options are offered. If a person in HR or upper management does not like you this will hold you back from advancing in your career with Rite Aid.

Advice to Senior ManagementRaise the pay, treat the employees better, work harder to keep top talent around. Instead of having yearly trade shows invest that money into making the company more profitable.

    Clerk (Former Employee)
    Newport Beach, CA

    ProsUnion wages / good beneifits

ConsNew company culture - force out the better paying employees / replace with lower paying. You have to actually greet each customer that walks thru the door no matter what your envolved with or you will be firied!!!!

Advice to Senior ManagementCulture comes from the top - I think store managers will just get worse!!

    Gained invaluable experience

    Production & Shipping (Former Employee)
    Lancaster, CA

ProsI worked at the distribution center, not a store. The job was physically demanding at times, but overall, it was an easy job for the pay. I worked my way up very quickly and was making decent money in no time. Personally, I think the employees are paid more than what the job is worth. The distribution center had a gym that was free to use for employees and their family members, as well as pool tables, a basketball court, and a volleyball court. The DC also held various employee functions and competitions to keep work somewhat fun.

ConsManagement was horrible. Unorganized, unprofessional, rude. My department manager always treated employees like children, yet half the time he didn't know what he was talking about. He liked to micro-manage from his office instead of letting the leads on the floor do their job.

Advice to Senior ManagementFirst, stay current. You can't manage people well if you don't even understand the job that they do. Second, treat your employees with respect. People will be much more likely to work hard for you if you do!

24 hour pharmacy in a busy district

    Pharmacy Clerk (Current Employee)
    Glendale, CA

ProsThere is a lot of work at the register and customer interaction since your job is primarily to face the customers when they come to pick up their drugs. The pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work quietly in the back.

ConsThere is not much opportunity learn other skills related to pharmacy because you are just busy with customer service.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive opportunities for clerks to be trained
