Pros
Rite Aid as a company to work for is only good for the decent pay , and vast amount of different people you will meet. Its also a really simple job once you have the right management.
Cons
You will almost never have the right management, company systems and polices change overnight constantly, and it oh so difficult to get promoted from the ground up. The company is drastically scrambling to stay afloat and it shows in the day to day operations.
Pros
good pay, good health benefits, great working condition, good and friendly customers, just about every thing under one roof and clean stores.
Cons
Long hours, upper management does not have any respect for managers, hr department does not follow the company policies, they let their managers go without any solid reason, they don,t have a open door policy.
Advice to Senior Management
Give little respect to your management team, do not force them to violate company policies, worh with them to understand the store needs since every store location requires different type of support.
Pros
Fun atmosphere, Great shopping discounts
Cons
Poor Pay
Corporate will never listen to managment or associate ideas
Pros
Customer service opportunities, first job opportunity, easy (too easy) hiring practices and interviews, Good way to see what hard work really is.
Cons
Terrible Pay, horrible bonuses, bare-minimum pay raises, Ridiculous and unorganized management. No team spirit, boring, meaningless work, expect to work late if you close.
Pros
cool place to work workig environment is very good..
Cons
low pay rate.stress in work
Advice to Senior Management
increase the pay rate
Pros
The people I work with for the most part are very helpful and very good to work with. My store manager is very flexible with time off and works very hard with associates to ensure work is done. When work for this company you will learn the basics of retailing at its most basic level.
Cons
The corporate does not value its employees at the store levels. They are very behind in software development and information technology services. They do not answer or take a very long time to answer brite ideas which are suggestions for improvement. When they do answer they give answers and are incomplete.
New software that is released is very bugging requiring them to go back and patching making more difficult for store employees to use. The new sign system while in walk sequence order is nice but the one to one ratio where every sku on sale in that section gets a sign and this makes it very time consuming for store associates to put up. The corporate gives out very payroll numbers for stores that decreases the amount of help.
Advice to Senior Management
1st: Remove the one to one ratio for signs to reduce time for employees to put up
2nd: Work on accelerating software and information technology development and get better developers to ensure on post patches
3rd: Work on providing reasonable payroll allocations to stores and if the store doesn't make money work on relocating stores or closing them.
4th: When employees put in brite ideas respond to them if they make work more efficient work quickly to implement them
5th: Reduce the amount of paper printed by registers by using a quantity key and signing at pin pad and store them electronically to make them easier to find later like credit sales, void sales, etc
6th: When a customer wants to buy a $100 or dollars have the register ask for cashier to enter id via scanning it and store information electronically.
Pros
Cool management, cool customers, Time passes quick, Health care benefits for employees who meet the required hours/week. Management allows flexibility with schedule
Cons
Not much potential for growth, low wage compared to workload, Low budget given to staff, Not enough help during heavy traffic business hours
Advice to Senior Management
Management is pretty cool. They allow flexibility to work around a schedule of a college student. Very accommodating. Provide reasonable amount of help to make up for low budget hours
Pros
The pay was ok for a part time job and the Pharmacist I usually worked with was great.
Cons
Most employees and managers were just rude on a constant basis. You couldn't ask them for help for anything with out getting an attitude from them.
Advice to Senior Management
Be nicer.
Pros
This is a very fast paced environment. Easy for a person with desire to be hired as CoManager and be promoted to store manager relatively quickly.
Cons
Upper management is scrambling to come up with ideas that will bring in sales. Many programs coming out now are poorly thought out and detrimental to sales. For example, a new sign program was released that takes twice as long as the previous program to implement. The top 10% of the stores that are able to get these signs up will see an increase in sales. The other 90% will lose sales because the weekly signs aren't up until midweek if they are put up at all.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure that you are giving equal voice to the "operators" in the company when looking at these new programs. There's a lot of talented people looking for competent upper management but we are continually disappointed.
Pros
If you are hard working individual that has the capacity to show some leadership and a ability to learn operational process quickly, advancement can be acheived.
Cons
Long hours, as in all retail management positions, and not enough help when needed. Payroll is a big issue espiecailly when the company has financial issues. Payroll will not increase even though Sales increment reaches double digits.
Advice to Senior Management
To be sucessful as a Manager one needs to understand team development and training. Be very proactive in excuting company directives and keep very informed by utilizing the Portal and Profit planner.
