I have been working at Rite Aid full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent pay once you get past Shift Supervisor Depending on the DM they can be very approachable and will help you with anything. Depending on the store manager you will get a real taste at running the financial end of the store. Decent 401K and other discounts. Very easy to move up. High turn over and many store managers are hitting their retirement age.

    Cons

Major cuts in payroll Some locations 24/7, if you don't like that. Shift Supervisors are underpaid, most making only $1 an hour more than cashiers. Bosses on high love micromanaging Store Management, sometimes we have so little say of what we do in the store. Older managers sometimes look down on younger managers based solely on age.

    Advice to Management

Let management do their job and actually MANAGE their stores.

Good overall but at times the company seems to pile on the work as they cut jobs

I worked at Rite Aid full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with and knowing that you are helping people take care of themselves

    Cons

Unloading the truck when inventory comes in

    Advice to Management

Realize that there is a limit to how much work an individual can do and still provide superior customer service.

    Pros

flexible schedule, overtime available...most of the time.

    Cons

15 minutes to fill an RX (fast food philosophy). Culture is cold, anonymous, distant, no community feel.

    Advice to Management

need to feel like were a team, maybe a yearly company pick nick for employees or inner store sports competitions.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

store team, family environment, customer interactions these things made up for a whole lot of bad

    Cons

low pay, micromanaged from senior level who either forgot about the people who run their business or have never actually worked at store level. Poor communication on new programs, low pay compared to industry, aside from immediate supervisor never recognition for good performance, lots and lots to do, no tools nor payroll to ensure execution of plans

    Advice to Management

communication, recognize that many associates who work for you actually would like to see the company succeed, the way to do this is not to belittle, give constant criticism, stop taking away benefits, show a little concern for those who bust their butts day after day to take care of your company! And mostly lets not forget customers, allow stores to deliver the excellent service you demand them to give, not another hat they must wear in hopes they don't all come tumbling down.

    Pros

gain lots of knowledge through ever changing days. My immediate supervisor is respectful and extreamly fair, I enjoy my work

    Cons

as with most retail, payroll is always a concern, sometimes communication could be better, in talking with people who work the same industry it seems our pay is a little low

    Pros

chill atmosphere, management is friendly, open to communication, and cooperative; holiday sales displays are fun, regular customers can make your day.

    Cons

pay is not that desirable, the stores can be a little boring especially being front end cashier. not bad if you want to coast.

    Advice to Management

i would say to vary the hours that employees work, and have them go switch to different areas of the store to get a full experience.
