Pros
Like the company, has changed over the year, but still better than most other hotel companies to work at...most, not all
Cons
Too much Marriott influence, doesn't feel as Ritz-Carlton anymore as it used to
Advice to Senior Management
You are not a glorified JW Marriott, so be original and stop acting like it.
Pros
You do get to work with some interesting people from all over the world.
Cons
The benefits are garbage, the wages are garbage, the corporate culture is cult-like and scary. My worst memory was seeing how upper management lived high on the hog at the hotel's expense all while telling line employees that due to that particular hotel hemorrhaging too much money, the hotel couldn't afford to give them more hours despite many of those employees working less than 20h a week.
Advice to Senior Management
Take an ethics class.
Pros
Hotel discounts are amazing and depending on the hotel the work environment can be great
Cons
Some leadership can be very autocratic
Pros
great atmosphere, great Ladies and Gentlemen
Cons
low salary long hours changing shifts
Advice to Senior Management
staff retention
Pros
Most time off requests approved, great hotel discounts, decent pay compared to other hotels, looks good on paper, good for experience.
Cons
Management is lazy and work long hours slacking off for sympathy , lack of discipline, lack of respect between departments, flex shifts, most holidays, guests are horrible, typical Marriott atmosphere where the worst a guest complains/treats an employee the more they get. With as much revenue this brand of hotel makes you would think the employees would benefit. Instead The Ritz-Carlton minimizes staff and cuts supplies.
Advice to Senior Management
Without employees there would not be guests. Re-review management, back up "ladies and gentleman" more than the lying guest. Promote employees who work the hardest.
Pros
When you have people that appreciate you, you will go far.
Cons
When you have management that takes you for granted you may work a lot hours for no further placement.
Advice to Senior Management
Make sure you hire people that implement what the Ritz-Carlton really represents Ladies and Gentlemen.
Pros
Good Benefits
Looks Good on a resume
Teaches incredible customer service skills
Definately tries to create a positive enviroment for line level employees
Cons
No work life balance, just work
day to day responsibilities often make it difficult to have an opportunity to learn new skills
Advice to Senior Management
Increase the incentive to work hard to reach a management level
create a more flexible and less stuffy work enviroment
Pros
discounts, often can work more hours, meet people from different places, very beautiful place to work, close to the beach
Cons
strict, boring sometimes, have to dress up everyday, have to cater to all guests all the tiem, hotel discount is till expensive
Advice to Senior Management
should be more friendly to employees,
Pros
They care about you as and employee. As an employee they care about the wellbing of your family. Great Place
Cons
Make sure that you are a perfectionsit and very willing and competent to master your craft or whatever field yourr in.
Advice to Senior Management
continue to do such a wonderful job. i could not see myself working any where else. you have the right focus
Pros
discounts on hotels, and benefits package.
Cons
sometimes senior managers/ hotel general managers and corporate are too removed to impede and make decisions affecting the kitchen, they should seek information from kitchen or like places to make more appropriate decisions.
