    Pros

The Ritz-Carlton hires their employees very wisely. Everyone is so friendly and outgoing. You get great benefits and hotel discounts. They really want you to excel in the company and see you grow within, although it can be tough. You have to pay your dues to move up.

    Cons

Can be difficult to get time off. The location I'm currently at is very seasonal, so you can't take off during high season easily.

    Cons

Long hours and weekends and holidays.

    Advice to Management

Rotate holiday hours or have each employee only work half a shift.

    Pros

Valet team members are fun to work with

    Cons

Inconsistent training by different team members. Inexperienced / hypocritical / malicious Front Door Management. Hours varied from 20 to 50 a week without warning. Unwarranted blame from all other team members/management in the front door area (cashier is accountable for every mistake made by the Valet team, regardless of involvement). No positive reinforcement only punishment (a job well done is expected and therefore not acknowledged, as I was reminded by the lead HR person after she asked for suggestions). No chance for advancement as cashier--The longer you stay on as Cashier the further you doom yourself to fail in the company. I was wrongfully accused of stealing by my direct Supervisor (she did not bother apologize when I cleared my name, she just said "Oh." and walked away). I was forced by my direct supervisor to complete job duties of some female employees because the jobs were too "yucky for them [females]". I was repeatedly warned not to take important issues to HR, as that would only cause more problems and make the situation worse.

    Advice to Management

Do not hire a full time cashier at the beach resort in Naples. The burn-out rate is too high because of the constant blame and terrible variance in hours attached to the job. Devise a more effective hiring process. Compose a proper SOP for Cashier Position and cease the unreal expecations. Ensure proper Cashier Training by ONE person.

    Pros

Great money, flexible schedule to go to school or see your kids.

    Cons

You will work all holidays and have to take your vacations in the off season.

    Advice to Management

Ask the people who have been there for years for advice and really take it into consideration. They will be there working the same job long after upper management has moved on to another job.

    Pros

As in most service industries, the vast majority of your money is made in tips (cash), and they feed you very well and provide and clean all your uniforms. Good travel benefits-many times you can stay at a nice Marriott for $39 per night. Very good tips during high season-at least $200-$250 per day.

    Cons

They basically own you and treat you like a slave. Be prepared to deal with some of the most rude, unpleasant, and demanding guests you could possibly imagine. Forget about family/social life, as your schedule changes every week and always includes weekends.

    Advice to Management

Advise middle managers to treat front line employees like humans, instead of like slaves. Give employees more say in their scheduling, and utilize more seasonal employees to take a little bit of pressure off the full time staff during high season.

    Pros

good benefits, great training, equal opportunity, happy employees, relationships

    Cons

competition for advancement is tough. There are a limited amount of higher positions and a lot of people working towards the same goals. Low turnover rate makes this a much harder competition

    Pros

Great Company and colleges as well,if it is the right one !

    Cons

Not a good experience at one property ( by me - not a Ritz at all)

    Advice to Management

Make the Ritz experience same , in every property.

    Pros

Job security is great, specialy during season
Advancement opportunities are also great as long as you are motivated and dedicated
Travel apportunity is amazing within the company...so many properties available for transfer

    Cons

Marriott is chaging the Legendary Ritz-Carlton culture

    Advice to Management

Go back to the fundamentals of the Ritz-Carlton, not Marriott
