Former Employee - Host In Restaurant in New York, NY

I worked at Ritz-Carlton full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

-The majority of people who worked at my hotel were wonderful.
-The travel discounts were amazing. I once stayed at another property for $50.00 per night.
-I found the salary to be above average for the position
    -free staff cafeteria
    -wonderful employee training
    -holiday party

    Cons

-lots of pressure to work overtime
-cafeteria food was often unhealthy (heavy pasta dishes, fried food) which made for a sluggish afternoon
-dealing with the Ritz employees who were in the Hotel Union was a often nightmare, and once they were hired it is hard for them to be fired.

I have been working at Ritz-Carlton full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The Benefits are great!! Co-workers are nice and friendly (some). great location to all transportation

    Cons

Hours, No advancement for "certain" departments. Only care about pleasing the guest and not much the employee. The pay is very low for Westchester County oppose to the other two locations in New York because not actually in New York City. The shifts doesnt make sense, and management only seem to care about The Guest and not The Employee

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you take care of the employees they will take care of your company.
