Pros
Work in a professional environment where everyone is treated with respect.
Meeting some of the world's most successful people on a daily basis.
Compensation plan when times were good was excellent.
Knew exactly what is expected of you.
Cons
With the real estate crash in 2008, the company remained stuck to old ways and were arrogant about the state of the industry, instead of adapting to change and attempting to innovate and bounce back.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the senior sales team about what is important, they are the people on the front line working with prospective Members.
Pros
Ladies and gentlemen are the most important resource!
Cons
work/life balance is not the best
Pros
Training is excellent at most properties.
Cons
Marriott influence is a negative.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more managers from Four Seasons.
Pros
Benefits, opportunities for domestic and international career growth, fast paced environment.
Cons
The hospitality industry as a whole requires 100% dedication and work life balance takes quite a bit of life-style juggling to maintain professional and personal obligations - it is not for everyone.
Pros
competent and motivated co-workers. sense of pride and shared purpose; meaningful and practical mission statement.
Cons
want their pound of flesh; minimum 60 hrs/wk required of salary employees
Advice to Senior Management
doing a good job of listening to the rank and file; keep-up the sense of pride of working at the Ritz.
Pros
The company's presitigious brand all around the world offers a very good impression on my CV when choosing the next career step.
Cons
While the other compensations are fair enough, the salary itself is a bit lower than the average of the silmilar companies.
Advice to Senior Management
All the properties have their own drawbacks, in my opinion; for example, too many interns in some hotels hinder the great impression from a quality service made by staffs to guests,
Pros
Endless opportunities to move forward or laterally within the company. Very hard to get fired once you have got through your probationary period.
Cons
Not great communication, but that is to be expected at the larger properties. Tips fluctuate greatly if you are at a seasonal property.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide better management, keep updating your training programs, continue to empower employees, provide different compensation packages for off season down times.
Pros
The people and the company culture, everyone is family.
Cons
Living in New York City can be expensive
Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Benefits are great, Staff is not what you expect from a Ritz... They feed you a shift meal everyday, sometimes you may even get something hot.
Cons
long hours, nights, weekends, hard to get off if needed, schedules never consistent, work every holiday, management is all on to bigger things
Advice to Senior Management
Training training training training... More time for families and personal life, Management needs to work along line staff to see whats really going on
Pros
Benefits, Co workers which become the bestest of friends, Discounts at other properties, great pay
Cons
A bit hard to move up in position towards management status, not a great pay increase over time
Advice to Senior Management
Make it a little easier for hourly employees to become part of management team. Other then that everything is great!
