Great Place to Work

Controller (Current Employee)
Riverside, IA

I have been working at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort full-time for more than 3 years

ProsNo matter what position your in the casino is required to pay more than minimum wage. The company values their employees and offers access to their wellness center. They offer profit sharing after employment of a few months.

ConsBecause it is a casino some areas work inconvenient hours.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Opportunity

Security (Former Employee)
Riverside, IA

I worked at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort full-time for less than a year

ProsBenefits package availability. Opportunity availability.

ConsSlow upward mobility. Pay is not that great. To many eyes on what you are doing.

Advice to Senior ManagementBreak out of the mold of micro-managing and the chain modality. The "job security" stigma runs ramp-id through the heartbeat of your organization and is intoxicating to new highers. The mission and vision needs to be sold to many who have originated with the company to allow for the growth of the organization as a whole. I see the vision and mission. Just wish it was not so stifled by the naysayers.

Incompetent middle management...

Table Games Dealer (Former Employee)
Riverside, IA

I worked at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort full-time for more than 5 years

ProsProfit sharing, on-site cafeteria for employees.

ConsUpper management is disconnected, there's a pay cut for any middle mgt position so most who don't plan to stay in the casino business don't attempt to advance. Those that do are your typical burnt-out, no formal education, worked at 50 casinos in the last 20 years types. The result of this is your direct boss will probably have a chip on their shoulder if you're anything but a drone, as they feel insecure that most of those 'below' them are students.

Advice to Senior ManagementNone. It's good business sense to hire middle management that will accept low pay and stay there for a long time.

I worked at Riverside Casino & Golf Resort full-time for less than a year

ProsIntersting things to see and cheap food with free popcorn in the break room.

ConsPoor managment.
Poor Pay.
Poor moral.
No room for advancement unless looking to move to another department.
You have no control over anything and are required to call someone else to make all disicions for you.
