I worked at Riverside Methodist Hospital full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The health insurance benefits are fantastic. Everything is easily accessible online and it's a great company to work for. They always offer training, mostly since it's mandated, but the fact that it can be done online and in your own time is great. The people that work there are great as well!

    Cons

The management on my particular floor could have tried to be more fair. The night-shift always got a bad rep for things when we were constantly cleaning up messes from day shift (typical day/nigh rivalry I guess) but management didn't view this in a fair manner. I have heard other floors were better to work on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be fair. Don't single people out and then target them (I am not referring to myself but a former co-worker).

I worked at Riverside Methodist Hospital

    Pros

Employee cafeteria, free parking, shuttle bus quick, pnc bank, Tim Hortons in lobby, good location with easy access to the freeway.

    Cons

Cliques, micromanagement, standoffish management. computer charting not nurse /job friendly, hr rep not up to date with job requirements. Inadequate orientation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Patience with new employees, friendliness toward new employees. Proper orientation had 5 preceptor in 7 days 2 who didn't want to do precepting. No follow up with new employees

I worked at Riverside Methodist Hospital full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good pay and benefits for the area

    Cons

My manager was an RN with no advanced degree, they promised me a set schedule of 12 hour shifts and instead changed it to 5-8 hour shifts, I already had 3 years experience as an ICU NP with procedures and they privileged me for procedures and then told me I couldn't do any, they don't understand the NP role and treat you like an intern. It took 4 months to get privileges.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get an NP to manage NPs, don't tell someone one set of hours and job responsibilities and then change it after they start and expect they will be happy in a job that is nothing like what you told them it was going to be.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Riverside Methodist Hospital

    Pros

No nights, weekends or holidays. Most everyone is pleasant and nice to work with. The physicians are great, very skilled and they treat the staff well.

    Cons

There is alot of micro-management of the staff which is stifling. Although most of the staff is easy to work with, it only takes a couple bad attitudes to make the day miserable.
