Pros
Friendly people, all there for each other. The staff and management are supportive of each other. There is honesty and caring for staff and patients. Quality of care is excellent also.
Cons
There's a lot of competition in the area from larger hospitals and it's difficult to compete on pay sometimes.
Pros
They treat employees good and it is a nice atmosphere to work.
Cons
Pay not as good as other hospitals.
Pros
Family feeling, good quality of care, focus on quality, generous benefit package. Small size gives opportunity for cross training and skills development.
Cons
Many employees have worked there a long time, particularly in patient care areas. What this means is they have no idea of how things work other places. PTO was a huge issue, even though just about every other place has it., for example. Any change, minor or major, is a huge deal.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize that turnover isn't always a bad thing. You are losing good, young people who are frustrated by the entrenched, non-changing old guard.
Pros
will work with you on days off. You get off at the same time each day.
Cons
Pay is not competitive. Corporate doesn't give us what we need. It is a selfish one sided company. They would prefer to patch things up than fix them.
Advice to Senior Management
Let each location manage itself. Stay out of local business. Hospitals belong to the neighborhood and not a big corporation.
Pros
Good co-workers,manager will work with you or help u if problems arise in work area.
Cons
Benefits for workers are becoming less and less during the years
Advice to Senior Management
Be aware of what is going on around you and help the staff that u have with work issues.
Pros
Growth of facility
Explosion of many departments
Some loyal staff
Location of hospital
No mandated uniform color
Tuition reimbursement
Opportunity to transfer within hospital
Cons
Riverview has expanded in many areas. With growth has come lack of personal care. It is no longer 'people caring for people'.
Advice to Senior Management
Pat Fox cannot appreciate the hometown feel that Riverview had prior to her employment. Though financially and politically astute, she lacks empathy for the common worker. She perhaps, has made Riverview more financially solvent but has simutaneously made it a mini-Wishard.
Pros
they have some good nurses & respiratory & doctors. I wish housekeeping wouldn't keep moving the housekeepers around. There is a new person all the time&its hard to keep up with the name changes. The decor looks really good! The cafe is doing better but ther are no cakes or pies anymore. I love the volunteers, they help sooo much!
Cons
Some days we are short staff- mainly the techs!! Raises are cut alot the past few years & yes im happy to have a job but i have to eat too.
Advice to Senior Management
Ask your employees what needs to change & actually work on that solution.
Pros
Very clean work environment, Great nursing staff
Cons
Some departments were ran using the good ole boy system which caused those out of the loop to feel left out.
Advice to Senior Management
Having worked with the same CEO at another hospital earlier in my career I did note that the vibe of the hospital and employee moral beacame negative after their arrival.
Pros
Empowerment of management to allow staff to do what they do to meet patient needs. Support of management to get the tools you need to assist with patient care.
Cons
Some issues are not always fully addressed with higher management.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you are doing.
Pros
Empowering their employees and giving the employees the necessary tools to do their jobs. Riverview has a very good benefits package and are interested in my development in my job. The people are very friendly and made me feel very welcomed when I started working there.
Cons
I have to wait 6 months before I can use PTO. Limits choices of physicians to choose for medical care.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to listen to the employees with improving the systems of operation. Always treat each employee fairly and with respect.
