Pros
Great place to give yourself a challenge. Professional employees, and great location of office.
Cons
Very little training. When I first started, I was wondering why half of the office was in new hire orientation. High pressure, some of the greediest team-members who are two faced. Great company to get the hard-knocks of the business world.... but would not go through that experience again. Worked for company 1+ year.
Advice to Senior Management
Micromanagement does not work!
Pros
Very relaxed environment in IT
Cons
No career growth and most of the systems are old
Advice to Senior Management
Management is not visionary
Pros
Get a good overview of recruiting/sourcing practices
Cons
No work/life balance, not enough pay, goals set unachievable, management behind the times & set in their ways, unethical behaviors by management, favoritism, high stress
Pros
The Handlers are very friendly and respectful. They always call first to confirm if a prospective assignment is compatible to my expectations. The assignments have always been exactly as described. There have never been any surprises.
Cons
Lack of assignments. Not really their fault, the down economy does not help. Increased communication between handlers and staff, even if it is just an email asking how I am doing and am I still open to assignments.
Advice to Senior Management
Increased dialogue between handlers and temp staff. I often wonder if I have missed opportunities and if so, why. Are there ways to increase my marketability?
Pros
The best reasons to work at Robert Half International are to help yourself transition back into the workplace after a layoff; to expose yourself to the possibilities of your own creativity thought of in a different way; and to give yourself a chance to opt out of the expensive COBRA if you were laid off by a prior company. The benefits available are reasonably priced.
Cons
The only downside of working at Robert Half International can be that you have no 1099 option.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep doing what you do!
Pros
Potential to make money.. lots... They love their employee's... ok maybe not
Cons
Micro management, not a lot of time off. SHARKS..management allows unethical behavior.... RULES RULES RULES it's like highschool all over again.. its not about who gets the job done .. its about who kisses who's butt..
Advice to Senior Management
Be Honest.. oh yeah thats impossible
Pros
They start most people off as temps and hire on the ones who are a good fit. Three weeks vacation/sick leave earned in the first year, which is ok. Seem to get along pretty well with most coworkers/employees I've met so far. I don't like a lot of team-building distractions, but for those that do like it, this company has a lot of activities (within the corporate office, anyway) that employees can participate in.
Cons
Computer systems/programs are very outdated compared to other large companies. In my opinion, pay rates are low for the Bay Area. MAJOR DISAPPOINTMENT: This company does not appear to value growth and promotion from within. They pull in outside temps alot and eventually hire those temps for positions that would be considered promotions for permanent employees already within the company. They want to keep their permanent employees stuck because it's easier than training for their replacements. Robert Half got some "green company" designation, but we waste paper like crazy. Everything is printed out even though in this day and age many things should be softcopy. Seems very wasteful. Company also seems to allow many of their temps (who work for external clients) to remain working even when those temps have falsified timesheets or done other unethical things. Robert Half should NOT be continuing to allow employees to take advantage of that leniency. Any other company would fire unthical temps right away.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend less money on printing those stupid "Robert Half Times" magazines that no one wants and start spending money on upgrading some outdated systems. Also, place more value on your permanent employees. You make us work very hard for low pay (in comparison to other companies).
Pros
- unlimited salary potential with huge bonuses
- very strong training program for new hires
- good medical / dental / vision benefits
Cons
- the company promotes people who aren't top performers but because they follow the RHI way
- bad behavior is rewarded by letting staffing managers and account executives keep sales credit on things they didn't earn to try to keep the peace
- so much fighting internally between divisions on the client and the candidate side and management is not willing to draw the line between divisions
- management has very limited experience outside of RHI so they are not willing to initiate change and continue to see the old school way of thinking as the best way
- the employess are backstabbing and gossipy, they will do whatever it takes to come out on top and the managers encourage this behavior by not putting a stop to it
- zero flexibility between the hours of 8 - 5pm and employess are never allowed to work off site
- too much daily oversight for top producers who are bringing in job orders (who cares how many calls were made if 10 job orders were brought in?)
Advice to Senior Management
This would be a much better place to work if:
- the lines were drawn more clearly between divisions
- there was more flexibilty with work hours and the ability to work from home
- there was less daily oversight for top producers (those above PDA) with regards to metrics (number of connects per day and number of meetings with clients per week)
- the managers were able to see outside the box and be creative
Pros
My contacts were very accessible.
Cons
Not enough follow up and proactive actions taken to find me another assignment.
Advice to Senior Management
None that I can think of.
Pros
On the pro side of things Robert Half is a great addition to anyone's resume. The assigments are typically short term but can last for months or even years in some situtation.
Cons
Don't expect to get rich, the pay is woefully low when you consider the demands of the job.
Advice to Senior Management
Consider adopting a more competative pay and bonuses for your SPS professionals.
