Pros
Great first line management and friendly people
Cons
Cut throat, Great first line management, terrible upper management
Pros
I consulted for a great company and gained valuable experience.
Cons
My consulting job lasted longer than expected and I didn't feel that my initial salary was inline with the market rate.
Advice to Senior Management
They did a wonderful job at getting me started quickly and always kept in touch with me to see how my job was going.
Pros
As a consultant, I got to take on various projects of a wide variety with different companies. Because of Robert Half's brand, I was able to perform projects to companies where i was under qualified. I would have not been able to get them on my own.
Cons
Recruiters/managers are motivated by money and don't necesarily care for their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees more
Pros
Robert Half can be a great place to grow your career. If you can get through the first year the benefits are great. Great vacation policy, good commission structure, overall very good benefit structure.
Cons
The staffing industry in general is not for wimps. Many people don't understand this and there is a high degree of turnover.
Advice to Senior Management
Need more of a work life balance. It is a sales organization, but sometimes the balance between home and the office gets a little skewed towards work.
Pros
They started me at $70 C2C and then after a year I got an increase to $72.50 C2C. Account manager worked a bit on my behalf.
Cons
They were making over $100 per hour and wouldn't share their profit, evn though my contract was originally 3 months and got extended 3 times to 18 months.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase your profit sharing incentive for your consultants who work for more than a year at your company. Also, if you don't want your talent going elsewhere, then visit them at least once a month to make sure they're doing ok.
Pros
Good place to learn to be a recruiter. They have a well known brand and there is a lot of business that happens just because of the name.
Cons
Their payouts are low compared to smaller agencies. A very corporate culture with strict work hours and vacation time.
Advice to Senior Management
Loosen up and review your comp plan. You can rarely hire experienced recruiters because of the corporate culture and comp plan.
Pros
They found me a job quickly, and the representatives are friendly. They check in on you periodically to ask how things are going.
Cons
The client pays Office Team $17 an hour for my services and Office Team pays me $10 an hour. I've been working there for a year. No holiday pay until you've had more than 1,100 hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay the temps a little more, maybe a raise when they've worked giving you $7 an hour for a year.
Pros
Co-workers are great and most are really helpful. I met some wonderful folks there and maintain friendships to this day. Excellent outside training programs in most departments. It is a very challenging environment that never slows down. You will always stay busy and rarely be bored. Lot's of social functions too.
Cons
Highly stressful environment with no consideration for work / life balance. You always feel like your job is on the line even when you are producing quality work. Organizational structures are constantly changing which contributes to this unstable feeling. They will use you until you are all used up then kick you to the streets when they are done. Low pay. Lot's of favoritisim. You can make huge mistakes without repercussions if you are in with the right crowd, otherwise any mistake can get you fired. Management style is hit and miss, some are really good while others are completely incompetant.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on 1st line management when a deprtment is experiencing high turnover, especially in this bad economy. The department I worked for still has an incompetant manager running it and has never kept a team longer than 1-2 years. Just because someone is a excellent individual contributor doesn't mean that they will be a good manager.
Pros
Kept in touch on how the job was going about twice a month.
Cons
They are about as efficient and organized as the Federal Government, no to mention, as arrogant.
Pros
The best thing about working for RHI was the flexibility to take time off. Please note that recruiters do NOT have that same flexibility. They are expected to work 10 to 12 hour days every day, without a break, no exceptions.
Cons
I've worked in recruiting for a long time, and this is hands-down the worst company I've ever worked for. The internal attitude toward their temps is tolerant at best, and contemptuous at worst. Management's impossible goal setting fosters a workplace rife with unpleasant competition, as well as the negativity that comes from an environment where no one feels secure in their positions. RHI employs a "burn n' churn" method of dealing with employees - wring every last drop out of them as fast as possible, fire them when they falter, and move on to the next. It makes for a shockingly high turnover rate, and consistent dissatisfaction in the lack of continuity, both from temps and clients.
Advice to Senior Management
I think that if management fostered and valued both their internal employees as well as the temps they place, it would have profoundly positive changes in the culture of the company.
