I have been working at RockYou full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great company culture
    - Broad scope of work
    - Start up perks
    - Flex work schedule

    Cons

    - This is still a smaller to medium sized company so if you are looking for a very structured environment this may not be the place for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to develop the teams to help foster mobility. With the large number of people joining the company, helping integrate teams should be a focus.

I worked at RockYou full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

-Ability to make an immediate impact. I've worked at companies where my and my counterpart's ideas were disregarded because of an Autocratic Management style. That's not how it works at RockYou. If I had an idea that I believed could better the company, I didn't hesitate to approach my manager. Management would give us their full attention and evaluate.
-fast paced environment that procures high performance from each team member.

    Cons

High expectations - It was frustrating working long hours but seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, makes it worth it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I'm excited to see how much the company grows!

I worked at RockYou full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I was at RockYou for almost 3 years and I have nothing but positive reviews. Our team was like a family and I miss that connection. It is a startup and has growing pains. If you are not doing your part to come up with solutions, than you will not be a contributor therefore not benefit from the companies benefits.

    Cons

I would say that there is a bit of a "players club" amongst the top exec's which caused animosity with the rest of the employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more focused and question the big strategic expenditures

I worked at RockYou full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    - Great friendly coworkers (as long as they are on the same level as you).

    Cons

    - Heavy level of office politics especially at the top.
    - You have no say in your product, no matter how long you've been a part of it.
    - If you outlive your usefulness, you are thrown aside.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should actually try to develop your employees instead of favoring yourselves all the time.

    I worked at RockYou

    Pros

-A lot of great people, and can be a fun work environment.
-Stay a while and you will probably get an inflated title of Director with a high salary.

    Cons

-CEO is not qualified to run this company.
-Company wastes money expensing non work-related purchases.
-Job security pretty much guaranteed if you party with the CEO. Otherwise don't count on it. (Was not laid off, just an observation).
    -Company is completely unethical.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to the Board and Investors: Replace the CEO and bring on some focused, mature, and ethical leaders/executives.

I worked at RockYou full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I was treated with a great amount of respect, paid well, fed well, and had an incredible boss (EP of publishing). I was able to work remotely when needed and treated like an employee would want to be by a superior and mentor.

I also was able to work with several brilliant and fun people who I have retained as contacts and friends to this day.

The old facility was really great and conveniently located in the Redwood city suburbs.

    Cons

Lack of commitment to company vision or direction.
CEO chases tails of trends instead of leading
Company hit big on Facebook early then failed to find niche
Missed the mobile bandwagon with no intention of trying to catch up
Company has too many overpaid, unnecessary upper management staff
Needs someone like the GM of Publishing who has game experience and savy to drive the vision of the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to internal development of games for mobile
Focus on mid-core games as well as casual
Cut fat from the top down and let EP of Publishing run things

I worked at RockYou full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They kind of, sort of, have a leading-edge angle in the Gaming market, for in-app. They are also a great place if you are a gambler and want to wager while at work, on how long until the next round of layoffs/firings begin. (Note: these will include you, so FYI.)

    Cons

Does it get any better? Not really. And you should really ask how the Founder somehow "left" the company way back when. Oh yeah; expect them to 're-invent' themselves every 10 minutes or so. Lucky you!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The person heading the place up, is by far one of the most hated exec's in all of Silicon Valley. A total disaster. Even better, their temperament is one that is very likely happy with that. Run, don't walk.
