I worked at Rockwell Automation full-time

    Pros

Very flexible in regards to work/life balance Highly values family and any situations that may occur The flexibility allowed me the freedom to leave if needed as long as my work was done which it always was More Technically sound than most companies, very innovative when initiating new ideas that benefit the company

    Cons

Great stepping stone into career but pay is not competitive compared to other companies Decent for African Americans to work but many leave because of stagnant limited growth options There are not many African Americans in Executive positions which can be discouraging due to them being ranked one of the most Ethical Companies out there

    Advice to Management

Value your employees a bit more, be a mentor not a dictator A thank you goes a long way

I have been working at Rockwell Automation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Depends on your team and manager, you can have fairly different experiences. Some are more micro-managing some are very hands off. Overall there are a lot of learning opportunities especially through working with diverse functions. There are endless projects to pick up if one desires to strengthen his/her skills and experience. Lots of positions available, good for career enhancement. Manager and HR support advancing your skills and knowledge as long as you ask for it.

    Cons

Slower pace Resistance to change high. Compromises and willingness to understand new ideas low depending on the function

    Advice to Management

Hire people who are creative and open to new ideas that may benefit the business

I have been working at Rockwell Automation full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the most brilliant engineers I've ever worked with. Some of the solutions they develop are mind blowing. Take good care of their employees, the environment and their business. Encourage employees to grow within the company by taking on new challenges.

    Cons

Complex solutions and products. Engineering background helps, but not necessary. Many layers of management, so be prepared to handle some bureaucracy, but it's not that bad.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing.

I worked at Rockwell Automation full-time

    Pros

Large Company, lots of possible opportunities, annual employee surveys, trying to be PC.

    Cons

Too large to care about departments, not alone individuals within a department. Lots of possible opportunities, except that there is so much 'CYA' going on that nothing gets accomplished. Only trying to look PC, actually more rhetoric there anything else.

I worked at Rockwell Automation full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good company to have listed on your resume, because they're a 'name'. Various opportunities to get experience.

    Cons

Working for Rockwell is internally often referred to as like working for the Government. It seems to take an act of Congress (Rockwell Executives) to get anything done. Executives are out of touch with the people who actually do the work for the company and that divide continues to grow each year. If you're an Executive, you mean something to the company, if you're not, you're just a number and treated as such. Also - Cost of benefits are high for regular employees, but not for Executives.
