    Pros

    Great history and products
    Interesting work
Company trying to improve work/life balance
    Pockets of really good people

    Cons

Many managers and directors has a real sense of entitlement. They worry about the square footage of their office as compared to others, or who has permit parking, and counting the number of days off an employee might need when a loved one passes. Then turn around and spend $50,000 to move a door from one end of a wall in their office to another. This attitude seems to effect all aspects of their decision making at work. It sets an unhealthy tone for others to follow.
High school antics in the work place are tolerated, yelling, swearing, talking, laughing so loud you can't think.
Different expectations for different employees, or should I say, lack of expectations.
Raises, promotions all hinge on popularity in the office, and titles.
Some of our best employees go unrewarded.
Very critical environment. Lots of Micro Management.
Our directors will past you, and not even say hello.
Our managers are not free to make even the smallest of improvements within their groups.
Employees making the lest in wages are often expected to find solutions for many of our issues, while doing their normal duties.
Goals are a burden for some employees, not value added or necessary for all positions.
To much control at the director level, and lack of knowledge for the groups under them to make good decisions.
Benefits are decreasing, but the company always spins it into a positive?
Parking and getting into the building is a horrible task each day. very long walks in bad weather. No covered walk ways to use. Very icy side walks and parking lot in the winter, people slip and fall all the time.
Company has a general lack of respect towards the work force.
HR is really difficult to work with, tried once, never again!
Our director will at times bully our group.
Many of my co-workers have decided to tune out, and just not care anymore.
Unethical charge back, and time charging.
Managers, and directors make decisions that effect your office, your job, you on a personal level without consulting you first.
Our director has been caught telling several lies, but claims he just doesn't know, or remember?
Why is he a director? He is either dishonest or incompetent by his own admission.

    Advice to Management

Change the elite culture. Value all your employees. Demand ethical behavior from your leadership.
I think the new workplace effectiveness might be a step in the right direction.
The VOE surveys are more direct, asking questions that help drill down through the leadership levels.
Improve the parking situation, and the walk to the building, facilities needs to do a better job clearing the snow and ice so you can walk safely.
I really love my job, and want to like Rockwell, but I so often leave at the end of the day with tears, or just plain depressed.
    Please help.

    Pros

OK pay, good relocation packages. Lots of opportunities to move around the company. Good work environment.

    Cons

My biggest issue is that I was not able to get on the career path that I wanted to even after switching jobs. Also, women are not treated as equals. I don't know very many women who came back to the same job after maternity leave and men are not expected to take any paternity leave. Human factors doesn't exist so don't come here for anything human factors related. Even if you are a strong performer, the raises suck. So, if you want to make money you have to move into mgmt.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees needs.

    Pros

    Good people to work with

    Cons

Expensive health care, no opportunities for advancement, low company contribution to 401K, unwritten rule for unflexible work hours even though they say otherwise, no work/life balance, lack of training for project engineers leads to bad planning with people working over holidays

    Advice to Management

Plan better so employees can have holidays, be honest with employees for opportunities for advancement, more honest feedback during performance reviews.

    Pros

Competitive benefits, very flexible hours for engineers, good salary.

    Cons

A lot of processes. Sometimes are good, but at at times tend to hinder progress and efficiency. It seems like the company likes to stay very low risk, which means generally behind the rest of the world in terms of software tools available, workplace culture.
