Hungry for market share, willing to take the steps to get there.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

You cant do todays job with yesterdays methods and be in business tomorrow. Lets see some movement, enough with the rhetoric.

    Pros

It was a relaxed environment. You were given work to complete, and were not continuously monitored, but just expected to complete it on time and accurately.

    Cons

The corporate headquarters are based in a small town in Iowa. It's not a terrible location, but there isnt much to do outside of work.

    Advice to Management

Be very clear with what you expect from interns. Some were given a project with a very vague goal, and the scope seemed to change every few weeks.

    Cons

Can be a bit overburdened from process - a common side effect of working at a large corporation.

    Pros

Rockwell Collins has a broad product line so there's an opportunity to work with and learn about many different types of equipment. They have an active employee recreation program, with sports and other activities available year-round.

    Cons

As a defense contractor, continued employment depends on their continuing to win contracts for new business. Occasionally there are business downturns that result in layoffs, which is why I no longer work there.

    Advice to Management

Next time layoffs are needed, why not start near the top? There seem to be an awful lot of management layers.

    Pros

+ excellent relocation package + good bonus structure + bonus for patent releases + steady work

    Cons

    - Almost no investment in disruptive technologies -Tendency to do things as they've always been done/afraid of change - Bloated engineering at Cedar Rapids and skeleton crew at centers of excellence

    Advice to Management

Increase your margins and spend the extra money on innovation programs. Lack of new research means most of your staff's technical skills are eroding over time as well as lower employee engagement.

    Pros

Work life balance only a good factor in this company

    Cons

No technical growth. You have to chose management activities if you want to grow.
