    Pros

    - Good company
    - Diversity and inclusion are two of the core values in Rockwell so it really feels like you are home and welcome.
    - The technologies is not the top or the most up-to-date technology because of the nature of avionics. Avionics industry do not change between programs that much to minimize impact on aircraft certification. The process is really great, there is a solid reason behind each step in the process.
    - Huge company with a lot of opportunities to move from department/group to another
    - good management in general

    Cons

-The pay is less than national median
-The cedar rapids is kind of small without much of activities, but in 4 hours (drive) you could be anywhere you want (chicago, kansas, st. luis, omaha, Madison/Milwaukee, Minneapolis) so it could go both ways good or bad.

    Advice to Management

    - management should focus more on the career development plan for engineers. that way the engineers would feel more appreciated and they would become better engineers on the long run.
    - management should take the evaluation process more seriously where they should survey the opinions of projects leads to assess engineers level more accurately.

    Pros

stable company, management is approachable, overtime expectations are very reasonable, new employees are respected and given meaningful assignments

    Cons

there is much emphasis on lateral movement opportunities but less on advancement, pay and benefits are stagnating, some programs have cycles of too much work followed by too little

    Advice to Management

when possible start revitalizing pay and benefits, plan out program phase transitions better to smooth out high/low levels of work

    Pros

Compensation is fair but opportunity for growth is limited.

    Cons

Nepotism is rampant and outsiders are not welcomed.

    Advice to Management

Stop talking about diversity and actually act upon trying to diversify the thought pool of the company.

    Pros

Very advanced technology company. Well run, good c-level execs. Opportunities are there to be had if you extend yourself and show initiative.

    Cons

Medical Benefits are not the best. Very high deductible plan that forces most costs to be borne by the employee. Could be due to the "Cadillac tax" that the government has imposed.

    Advice to Management

Restore benefits, medical and/or 401k match percentage. Lacking that allow for 4 weeks vacation at 10 or 15 years tenure rather than current 20 years.

    Pros

Lots of opportunity for networking and seeing mid-level management
    Compensation and benefits are good
Strong effort to integrate interns into Rockwell culture

    Cons

Both of my tasks had little face time with my directing managers
My advisors were swamped with their own work and had little time for direction
My project managers had little definition to what they would like me to do

    Advice to Management

Increase the on-boarding opportunities for non-rotate and interns into Rockwell
Organize whole teams after "optimizations' others-wise known as reorganizations
Put cost account formulas and spread sheets the same accross you business units

  9. Fast paced work environment where customer and employee success are tied together.

    Pros

Was a very good place. They pay an incentive bonus based on earnings, share, forward outlook yearly which is nice IF YOU ACTUALLY GET IT.

SInce they laid off over 2,000-3,000 folks in 2011-2012 I has been a sinking ship.

    Cons

Too many to list. Avoid ELINT department. You will never get promoted here.

    Advice to Management

    Fire yourselves

    Pros

good cross matrix organizational, COEs and program management
They do their own manufacturing, not all 3rd party like many others

    Cons

Continuous focus on finding someone who is different, when you hire, they tell you what color or gender you have to hire. Over and over. Gets really really frustrating. Can't we just the best qualified candidate regardless of race/sex/gender/bias/ whatever agenda of the day?
