I worked at Rockwell Collins full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great place for those who are just starting their career. Interesting work and the colleagues are friendly too. If you love to fly planes or want to know more about how their cockpit is designed then this is the place for you.

    Cons

The company is headquartered in a laid back city giving not much room for social life. The technologies used are not edge-cutting. It is the same kind of work always and there is no too much of context switch. So at times, the work is monotonous.

I have been working at Rockwell Collins full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There are some social events that make the work place fun.
The work environment is quiet and secure.
Low level leaders provide status reports to the team once a week. Middle level about once a month.

    Cons

Finding project information is sometimes difficult. Leaders have mistreated the employees and got away with it for far too long before the leader was fired. I found I had to CC lots of people to get a response. Noticeably political.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Poor leaders should not be given so much rope for so long. It happens many times.

    Pros

Will allow your career to go as high as you are qualified.
Great for smart hard working people.
Excellent work facilities including a top quality gym.
Lots of opportunities to grow professionally, formally (tuition and time) and informally (on the job).

    Cons

Health care becoming a bit intrusive - continually wanting more private info and participation in unnecessary hoop-jumping activities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be sure to continue to let the cream of the crop rise.

I have been working at Rockwell Collins full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting work, technology, products. Decent work life balance. Some very good pockets of high performing teams that are fun to work with.

    Cons

The good ol boy club is alive and well. Friends, family, legacies, golfing buddies get promoted. You can work your tail off here, get excellent reviews and go absolutely nowhere. Some managers are extremely short sighted in decision making.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen and act. This same feedback shows up time and time again.

Rockwell has some nice benefits - working hours are 7:30-4:30, you get 3 weeks of vacation plus Christmas holiday.
