I worked at Rogers Communications full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They pay salaries above market rate. Good benefits too.

    Cons

So much in fighting that starts right at the top. It's hard to do good work in such a hostile environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at how you treat your people. Are VPs really setting an example? There's no way to do any good work when you're constantly worried about being laid off.

I worked at Rogers Communications full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Health benefits are really great.

    Cons

Your opinion doesn't matter in a large corporation like this. It is also very easy for incompetent people to be promoted to managerial positions, which makes it impossible to work with because all that management listens to is your position in the company. There is no leniency in work hours (9-5 is a must), there are way too many people invited to meetings that they don't need to be in, etc. These are some examples of how the old corporate business life is still at work here.

Rogers is famous for under-paying their employees as well - peers in my industry are getting paid 10-15k more at least. The only way to change your salary is to get promoted to a different position.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start paying attention to newer business models (Google, etc.) that value employees' input and professional growth, flexible work hours (instead of setting up an environment of distrust by treating employees like they're punching in in the morning), and encourage a team environment (instead of management getting away with things you forbid lower employees to do).
