A great learning experience; helpful management, wonderful place to work

    Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
    Hamilton, ON (Canada)

    ProsFriendly co-workers
    Flexible hours for part-time
Discounts off certain products (videos/cellphone plans)
    Not labour intensive

ConsLack of incentive to meet increasing demands (more sales, more products, etc.)
Wage increases are few and far between
    Upper management shifted hours

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your staff, motivate them to care, be friendly, laid-back attitude with a go-getter mentality.
The bottom-line is important to upper management but your staff are the ones who are going to help you meet your goals, don't step on any toes and be reasonable.

Started off great, quickly turned for the terrible under new management.

    Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
    Kitchener, ON (Canada)

ProsBenefits, commission. Benefits are only for those who work more than 25/hrs per week.

ConsDisconnect between store and head office, high pressure sales environment (not worth it for how low the commission is), very strict store policies. Low pay and mostly part-time available. Full-time positions are rare. Difficult to get things done because you have to call too many issues in and speak to someone at a call center. There is a lot of pressure to sell certain things which may not necessarily benefit your customer. There can be sales incentives, but there can also be write-ups if sales targets are not met.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus more on making customers happy and less on pressuring employees to sell things which may not be best for the individual. Happy customers tend to come back, customers who realize they have things they don't need end up feeling cheated.

    Depends on the location

    Customer Service Representative (Current Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsI've seen plenty of people work at different locations and love their job; being in a very snobby neighborhood just makes the job more difficult

ConsManagers and customers alike have literally no common sense in their minds; if you work full-time at one of these locations I suggest leaving the country

Advice to Senior ManagementAbsolutely brutal, get your stuff together, have ONE SINGLE stream of information so that customers do not take their frustration out on unlucky front-line employees.

A great place to work overall.

    Store Manager- Plus (Former Employee)

ProsA great place to work if you love technology.
A constant influx of new product keeps things fresh.
    Personable coworkers.
    Great benefits.

ConsSlow, or lack of, communication between different departments creates unnecessary expenses.
At times. lack of product to effectively drive promotions.

Advice to Senior ManagementGreater communication from all levels will save time and money.
When reorganization occurs, take the time to get to know those who work the front lines.

Not so bad....not so good...lots of change happening in the company.

    Store Manager (Current Employee)
    Ottawa, ON (Canada)

ProsYour discount is great, there are lots of oportunities but it seems you need to know the right people to make it there....veryh disastified with some of the local changes happening

ConsLong hours, no banking aloud. You are expected to work whenever you are needed but can not get compensation for it. It would seem you need to know the right people to get up in this company at the time at least in my area.

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure your decitions are fair. I honestly believe that the higher management have the best of intentions but they really need to get into the store more and talk to the store managers. It seems there are alot more things happening behind the scenes than the area managers may lead on. I know that the new VP of retail and the great team that has been put together as the region managers have the best of intentions it just seems that maybe they are being blind sided and there are a lot of unahppy store managers that do not know where to turn.
