I have been working at Rooms To Go full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

It's a great place to sell. Friendly staff, nice clientele. Selling kids in our area is easy because we have the largest selection for kids/teen furniture in Corpus Christi area. Our company does a ton of advertising via newspaper, radio and television which keeps the store busy. You can make a nice income.

    Cons

Obviously working every weekend of our lives but we knew that coming in! Just the downside to retail! Sometimes hard to have time for family life outside of work but other than that I love my job and can't imagine working anywhere else. RTG is a great company.

I worked at Rooms To Go full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Only pro i can think of is that it was an actual paycheck

    Cons

little to no work-life balance. All holidays must be worked and usually are mandatory open-to-close days. Makes spending time with family difficult.

I have been working at Rooms To Go full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Work 10x harder than you ever have and you can make decent money. But be prepared for what they never tell you.

    Cons

Daily write ups. Poor customer satisfaction. Managers are puppets with keys only, not allowed to make any decisions. Required to sell protection on every upholstery piece and HOPE it's really treated. Push rugs, sofa tables, mattresses with 100 percent protectors. Charge for each piece delivery usually equalling 200-300 dollars. Next day express is usually 5 days out. Must beg to give customers services we advertise such as express delivery. Huge damaged delivery percentages. No return policy. No exchange policy. Sales staff must pay out of pocket for all delivery shortages but where do the overages go? High turnover rate, most are terminated. Daily meetings which are berating. Forced transfers to other locations as punishment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow managers to make simple decisions which effect day to day business. Realize the cost of doing business instead of charging back sales staff and customers. Get a better delivery service. Call customers before arriving instead of forcing them to wait all day. Build teams to promote a healthy work place. Rtg is not the best quality or value, be mindful that if you can do well here you can succeed anywhere.

I have been working at Rooms To Go full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Managers are good for the most part, they treat you with respect and are very nice. Cheap insurance, a lot of free lunches. Office assistant's are not required to have experience so it makes for a good place to gain experience but move on as there is no future in the stores unless you go into the sales floor.

    Cons

Low pay. No proper training. Office manager makes more money with better schedule and almost same responsibilities. Salespeople and managers expect too much from the office compared to how little the pay is ($9.50/hr). Customer complaints (never fun). Retail hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your office associates better and maybe there wouldn't be such a big turn over rate.

I worked at Rooms To Go full-time

    Pros

I can find nothing positive about work with this company.

    Cons

Conflicts with customers, sales staff always in conflict, meetings for an hour each day that tells everyone what they have done wrong, rather than the positive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sometimes change is good. People that have been in the same roles for years tend to become broken records or anal when it comes to supervision. If you keep doing things the same way and expect different results....isn't that the definition of insanity? Hostile work environment.

Not necessarily commiting to being a former employee or current employee...just information that upper level management should be aware of and look at possible changes.
