    Pros

Managers are good for the most part, they treat you with respect and are very nice. Cheap insurance, a lot of free lunches. Office assistant's are not required to have experience so it makes for a good place to gain experience but move on as there is no future in the stores unless you go into the sales floor.

    Cons

Low pay. No proper training. Office manager makes more money with better schedule and almost same responsibilities. Salespeople and managers expect too much from the office compared to how little the pay is ($9.50/hr). Customer complaints (never fun). Retail hours.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your office associates better and maybe there wouldn't be such a big turn over rate.

    Pros

I can find nothing positive about work with this company.

    Cons

Conflicts with customers, sales staff always in conflict, meetings for an hour each day that tells everyone what they have done wrong, rather than the positive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sometimes change is good. People that have been in the same roles for years tend to become broken records or anal when it comes to supervision. If you keep doing things the same way and expect different results....isn't that the definition of insanity? Hostile work environment.

Not necessarily commiting to being a former employee or current employee...just information that upper level management should be aware of and look at possible changes.

    Current Employee - Office Manager
    Current Employee - Office Manager

    Pros

The company pays for overtime...The store management was very supportive and understanding...Full benefits after 90 days

    Cons

there was no training for required duties, they just throw you into it and expect miracles. There were several times that vacation time was taken away based on "company needs" and no compensation was given. Worked alone in the office for several weeks open to close with no day off, did a job that I was not paid for. When I was finally promoted I was told by my regional manager that it would be "financially worth my while"...i got a $0.50 raise. Store managers were severely micro-managed to the point where there were several very busy days where there was no management available for sales, office or customer needs. TOO MUCH STRESS..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let the managers run the store. Provide proper training to all managers.

    Pros

    Discount on furniture
    40 hour weeks
    Cheap health care insurance
    Low attrition
    Casual atmosphere

    Cons

Low attrition which results in little innovation / new thought / ideas
2 weeks vacation until you have 10 years tenure and no set personal time for salaried employees
Pay is below market - no bonus structure
While hours are good, there is little flexibility for salaried employees and it differs between departments

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Practice what you preach and lead by example.

    Pros

Great pay, Great benefits, and Some jobs give bonuses.

    Cons

ZERO communication, spineless supervisors, and enforced unwritten rules.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to communicate. Every rule should be written down. A supervisor is supposed to lighten the blow between management and employees. Someone needs to learn to listen to employees the managers do not always know best.
