Pros
Decent salary and benefits, excellent (if not overwhelming) opportunity to gain "hard-core" process and project experience
Cons
Long hours, rather large turnover, poor relations with French management and upper management in general, union issues.
Advice to Senior Management
Mr. Taret, you have/had an excellent reputation. Develop (change) upper management to respect its employees more. Work to bridge the cultural gap between the French and Americans.
Pros
You can pad your resume.
Cons
Management is not available for support of any kind. Safety training is unheard of, but management still expects you to live up to their "expectations." It's all a game of figuring out who will take blame when something goes wrong. There is no room for career advancement. It feels like you are nothing more than a body expected to sit there and not complain for the next 10 years or so. Production is a struggle, you have to fight for resources, the right to put out waste, and maintenance is understaffed. In short, there's a very good reason for the high turnover rate.
Advice to Senior Management
Cultivate all that talent you bother to collect instead of letting it go to waste. Don't expect monumental change to occur without supporting those who are working on the front lines.
Pros
Ok pay for the area, and a good place to get some experance in how not to manage a Company and it people
Cons
The French and Upper Management, spend more times in meetings on how to tie your hands even more. Big on making everything look great on paper, personnel goals, safety training, but never doing anything to fixed the problems or quality of life and safety of lower management and union personnel. Expect to live at work, putting in 60 - 70 hours per week
Advice to Senior Management
They Should all be replaced. This place was not run like this 10 years ago.
Pros
Fantastic International experience! Good pay, Good Benefits.
Cons
The area. Its isolation from major cities.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep the best. Get rid of the rest.
Pros
Decent salaries and growing location
Cons
Poor moral, high turnover, unfair workload, very poor teamwork
Advice to Senior Management
Why bother
