    Pros

Salary is competitive with other area community colleges. Paid leave (annual, sick, and discretionary) is very generous. Good health insurance with reasonable premiums for single coverage.

    Cons

Campus security could be improved but overall is responsive.

    Pros

Great Benefits for Full-time employees. Same time-off holiday periods as students. Several fun activities on campus to engage in. Free access to the Wellness Center & LRC ,for all employees.

    Cons

Upper Management. Brown Nosing system ."yes man", you have to follow blindly w/o bucking the norm In order to get ahead or advance to better popositions.

    Advice to Management

All offices should work seamlessly & function as a cohesive unit with other offices on campus following the same systematic guidelines and maintain a clear & open channel of communication. All restrooms need disposable toilet seat covers. Offer part-time employees holiday benefits & bonus. LRC needs to remain open for longer hours for students. Pay needs to increase for Non-Management employees who do a lot more work than the majority of Management Staff. Update the food amenities on campus to those of other campuses provide more food vendors regularly as that of UCO. Offer more training and development to ALL staff on campus continuously with mandatory hour requirements per month. All student business resources should be housed in the same building ie. Cashier, Financial Aid, Advertisement, Testing, ID's, Parking, & Disability services.

    Pros

Steady employment Decent benefits Friendly people A ton of time off

    Cons

Incredibly stagnant Even minor changes or process improvements must go through multiple levels of approval, sometimes even to the regents Most change never ends up happening They still do 90% of things on paper, with pens, and filing When state budgets are cut, forget about pay raises. I left after the 3rd year with no raise They grossly undervalue the worth of their workforce. Pay is around 50-75% of the market rate for any position, and staff positions are 12 months, not 9. Because of the low pay, they attract mostly slackers with little ambition

    Advice to Management

Pay more for true talent and cut the dead wood. Listen to people who want to improve processes. They are trying to drag you into the 19th century. Recognize that cost of living pay increases have to happen every year just to keep up with inflation. Every year you do not give raises, employee purchasing power goes down.

    Pros

It is a good place to work. The management is very supportive of personal goals as well as company goals. Time off is valuable.

    Cons

Salaries can be a bit lacking. Raises are small and far between depending on government funding.

    Pros

Time off is amazing, the best anyone could ask for. Insurance is good for single employee, but when you start to add family it racks up huge. Very laid back atmosphere.

    Cons

Pay is very low compared to anyone outside of the education system. Management is nothing to be excited about and they are not on the cutting edge of technology.

    Advice to Management

Try to put in place the people with talent, some people may do good in interviews, but look at the track record and ask other employees.

    Pros

Most of the people are nice and the general atmosphere is fairly relaxed. We are allowed to use our own money to buy into the 403B plan, and finally get to use the Wellness Center. Neither costs the college any $, but are nice benefits we had to fight for. Students are great. Most professors are nice.

    Cons

Campus politics are a royal pain. The salaries for part time employees stinks. When the minimum wage got increased by the federal government last year, they didn't change the differential for degreed, longtime employees. We were frozen in place, instead of being given the sliding scale above minimum wage we had before Washington got involved. They keep claiming no increase in $ from the legislature has cut back all spending, but don't do anything to save $ in the running of the physical plant of the school.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees more and less to the politics.

    Pros

Ample time off Very generous benefits package Professional work environment Friendly work environment Tuition paid Access to campus amenities such as the Wellness Center Very supportive management in my area

    Cons

Salaries are low compared to most other places, especially for classified staff. Tends to be gossip, rumors travel fast and far - more so in some departments than others.

    Advice to Management

Up your salaries, especially for your classified staff. They truly are the backbone of the college!! Treat rumors and gossip as you would bullying - zero tolerance! Many people have been humiliated when rumors have been started or confidential information gets spread through gossip!!
