I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

As a Store protection specialist at the store there isn't much to do but look at the cameras, stay by the door and walk around. The job is pretty easy.

    Cons

It doesn't pay well. It gets boring. You have to stay late to help with shipment supervision.

False Promises & No Advancement for Associates

I worked at Ross Stores part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Sometimes, not always, flexible schedule and discounts. Four times a year there is a 40% and it allows you to spend up to a grand in merchandise.

    Cons

Absolutely no room for advancement unless someone leaves or steps down. Associates follow "Ross" policy and when customer talks to management, management usually gives them what they want and make you look like the bad guy for trying to follow procedures. Closing are the worst if there are no people on the floor during the day. Holidays have extended hours until ridiculous times. For example last year the store had a closing time of 1am. No one was in there since 10:30 pm and we had to stay there regardless. Raises happen only once a year and it's a joke. 10, 20, 25 cents being the highest! For how HARD we work that raise should be at least 50 cents. Management don't take the time to realize that as associates we work EXTREMELY hard!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat hardworking associates with respect and a proper wage!

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The co-workers i work with are phenomenal & i meet new people regularly. It's not far from my house so commuting is easy for me.

    Cons

The schedules are ridiculous, as a part-time worker, you can get a few as 4 hours a week, not exactly a job for someone who has major bills to pay ...perfect for kids still in high school or as a second job. The salary definitely doesn't match the work that you put in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management need to distribute hours more evenly among the part-timers & respect the workers that has long term ties with the company

    Pros

    It employs very good people.

    Cons

Managers are dreadful and stressed. Pay is wretched and ask the impossible from their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop cutting corners. Stop making people with horrible jobs feel even worse, it's stressful enough as it is.

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

A job which brings some sort of income.

    Cons

No benefits, cannot go over 25 hours if part-timer (usually give 18 hours max), no pay raise when being "promoted" to Front End Supervisor, give you days off but constantly call you to come in to work which is difficult when you already made plans and lose potential hours, no such thing as training, you learn everything on your own, have to do 5 things at the same time and get yelled at because you haven't finished anything.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to giving associates the hours they deserve, the paycheck does not reflect the amount of work one goes through.
