I have been working at Ross Stores full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

A stable company that will be around until I retire.

    Cons

    Very relaxed on disciplinary actions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ross in the DC level, should carry out more discipline to get higher quality employees.

I have been working at Ross Stores

    Pros

My store is full of really nice people. Both the workers and customers help make my job to be fun. I also have been given a lot of opportunity. As a first job starting in the fitting room, I was soon promoted to Loss Prevention, and then offered management and corporate jobs. While currently in school I plan to stay at my current position.

    Cons

It can be a lot of time on your feet but that can be healthier than sitting at a computer all day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Drive results.

I worked at Ross Stores part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great discounts. The work isn't too challenging.

    Cons

The customers can be really rude. Management don't necessarily have the employees best interests at heart. Long hours, or too few hours. Keeps practically full-time workers below 40 hours a week so they do not get all their benefits

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More training for first days. Better pay and a chance of a raise. Be more involved with the running of the day.

    I worked at Ross Stores

    Pros

The pro's were meeting new people within the company, them being able to work with your school schedule

    Cons

The workload for the amount of pay. Management didn't do their own personal task and would assign it to the associates. Not considerate of your personal life and problems. Only care about the how the company look, rather than the associates and the customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more considerate, don't overload the associates, be respectful in the manner you talk to your employees.

    Pros

The associates are great and some associates work harder than others

    Cons

The hours and management are horrible

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work harder and actually do work and listen to what the associates have to say about working and there problems.

    I worked at Ross Stores

    Pros

Organized, interactive, easily one of the best internships I have every participated in.

    Cons

More of an in depth focus on each of the areas we were trained in. Often only had a few hours of training, making it very difficult to comprehend everything in such a short time span.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Delegate more time to training in different areas of the company.

I worked at Ross Stores part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The discount is good, easy to get time off if needed

    Cons

very low pay, store is way understaffed and the few scheduled employees are way overworked. Very dysfunctional work environment. High employee turnover rate. I was one of them. I lasted about a month before I got fed up with it and moved on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your employees better, and make the work environment better so your employees will stay. Be competitive un wages. Im not sure how this place is a fortune 500 company the way it treats its employees.

Discounts are good 20%. if you need work they will hire you. if you stick with it you can be promoted at young or in short amount of time. A decent second income.

    Cons

Low pay does not make up for discounts and raises are not competitive! High turnover rate lots of employees are dissatisfied.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Does not value employees

I have been working at Ross Stores part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Decent time off. Benefits. Good training. Pretty easy job. When you do stocking, your hours are AWESOME. A lot of advancement opportunities.

    Cons

Pay is minimum wage. My manager isn't willing to work with me on scheduling for school but I can't say this about every store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

So far, the only two issues I have are that my manager refuses to work with me on scheduling me for school and also she has hung up and ignored me on multiple occasions. This is probably just my manager though so I would just suggest that any manager that is like this, they should be more lenient and understanding of their employees.
