I have been working at Rovi full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I work as an engineer in DivX San Diego. Over the last one year the changes made in DivX engineering has been outstanding. The team spirit, and coordination has improved.

    Cons

The overhead of Rovi management is stiffing progress. Every decision has to go through VP's and SVPs not directly attached to the line business. I feel DivX will move with greater alacrity as a business unit consisting of SanDiego & Mainconcept.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on the org structure. Give independence to employees. Trust. Decide for yourself whether you are a patent troll or a product company. You can't be both.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Rovi full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

No micromanagement, great benefits, very good work/life balance

    Cons

Engineering processes are not evolved, Technical experience among engineers is a little weak and inconsistent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think most of the negative reviews on here are from when Rovi was acquiring & integrating other companies. I heard it was a horrible time...but everything seems great now.
Most upper management seems intelligent, balanced, friendly and reasonable. No real advice

I have been working at Rovi full-time

    Pros

At Rovi, there are many talented and smart people. One often gets the opportunity to collaborate with these individuals and through the course of such collaboration, friendships are forged.

    Cons

Management/HR seems to be posting many positive shill posts on here. It is insulting to current employees and to potential hires. You clearly do not value us if you think the best way to boost a review is to fake reviews. SHAME on you for such unethical behavior.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

RESPECT US. Stop faking posts on here. Actually listen to us; figure out what we're saying and act on such suggestions rather than spend money needlessly on HR initiatives and the like. SHAME ON YOU FOR CONDONING UNETHICAL BEHAVIOR (FAKE POSTS)

    Pros

Great Benefits, clear direction, great people to work with. Wonderful culture and great environment.

    Cons

Profitable divisions, yet layoffs in those divisions. Too many acquisitions = poor morale. Loosing resources yet you are expected to succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Product management needs help badly.
