    Good place to teach.

    Adjunct Professor (Former Employee)
    Glassboro, NJ

ProsI taught as an adjunct in the RTF department. Not only did they actually live up to the Radio, Television and Film of RTF (many universities do not offer radio), but they were really concerned with the craft of making. Theory has it's place but when a student can't make a CD/DVD when finishing an RTF program, then something is really wrong. It was my first time teaching in NJ and quite different from the places I had taught as an adjunct in the Philadelphia area.

ConsMany of the students are holding enormous debt - much more than they should for a state-type school.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe administration really needs to consider their priorities - teaching does not seem to be one of them.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsRelaxed conditions, based on class schedules, easy to follow calendar plan

ConsThings can be frantic at times during laboratory classes.

Advice to Senior ManagementKnow what you need ahead of time and that you have it so that you don't get into the lab and realize its not there when the class needs it.

    Small-town college mindset still dominates.

    Coordinator (Current Employee)
    Glassboro, NJ

ProsSome phenomenal people work here—intelligent, interesting, dedicated. State benefits are still head and shoulders above what most private employers offer.

ConsSalaries are nowhere near what can be earned outside of civil service. Poor performers and bad attitudes continue to be roadblocks for change agents and act as a poison to the culture here.

Advice to Senior ManagementHistorical failure to address poor performers throughout all levels of the organization demotivates high performing employees and breeds mediocrity.

My experience at Rowan has been busy

    Student Worker (Current Employee)

ProsIt is a great opportunity to network with a lot of powerful people and to learn all the small tasks that it takes to run a growing University.

ConsI'm sure like most schools, it is a little bit disorganized especially because there is so much going on.

    Improvements should be done ASAP

    Graduate Assistant (Current Employee)

ProsColleagues are very kind and eager to share.

ConsThe management seems not having consistent protocols for each department; efficiency is in low level; Few communications between the colleagues in each department.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere must be a standard protocol for operation in each department, as the efficiency would get hurt if everyone or every boss in each department make up their own protocol based on their preference. It is no uncommon that only one employee among several in same department knows something but doesn't share necessary information with others even before he or she takes vacation.
