    Good place to start

Prosgood culture and a very safe place. I would recomend this place tothose who still want to have a life

Conslow visability which hurts prestige and pay might not be as good as those top american firms on wall street

    I liked it.

Equity Trader (Current Employee) New York, NY

ProsHigh payout. Access to capital. Good support. Good benefits. I liked working there was profitable every month I worked there.

ConsManagement wanted to change my deal as soon as financial crisis hit. Was profitable every month, never took drawdowns, they didnt care. Raised commisions, lowered payout. So I left

Advice to Senior ManagementDont change employees deals for no reason. Asses each person on their own merits and dont force profitable traders to subsidize unprofitable ones.

    Poor management in NY office

Senior Financial Analyst (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsVery large, successful organization. Canadian division is a great place to work and Canadian colleagues are talented and upbeat. NY offices are in Manhattan. Pay is ok, on par with other financial institutions, better than other industries.

ConsNote - this applies to NY office only!
Poor senior management style and poor hiring of junior management. Very negative attitude and fear trickles down to staff. No promotions & no rewards for good performance. Over-hiring then firing demonstrates poor planning. Revolving door environment - good people leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementNote - this applies to NY office only!
Treat staff with more respect. Nurture talents and allow people to use them. Maintain a more positive attitude and reward good performance and share in company achievements.

Has a lot of potential, but senior managment in NYC is very lazy and not very knowledgeable

Compliance (Former Employee) New York, NY

    ProsName recognition
    Computer technology is pretty good

    ConsBonus sucks
    Takes forever to get promoted
    Cut-throat
They hire smart people, so management can be lazy and collect big bonuses

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior management needs to be managed and be held accountable when they do a poor job.

    Rank Amateurs

Project Manager (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsRBC has a sound balance sheet and is growing in a down market.

ConsManagement (especially atthe functional and operational level) a joke. Latest strategy has resulted in a cadre of outsiders being brought in who are firing incumbents and replacing with their friends.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement should realize that they fell into this current growth/opportunity phase due to the financial meltdown in 2008. Had that not occurred, they would still be a mid level player in NY. Mgmt in NY is out of control, they laugh at Toronto.
