I worked at Royal Bank of Canada part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Canadian. Well managed. Regular dividend payments. Locations in every Canadian town and city.

    Cons

The ATM's only dispense $20's & $50's. Please bring back an easier way to get smaller denominations without having to stand in a line in the branch after gaining some time by using the ATM in the first place..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your people right. Don't water down your ethics and principles to fit the flavour-of-the-month management 'philosophies'.

I worked at Royal Bank of Canada as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

They treat their employees well, there are events to bring teams together, their discount site on popular items is useful, and the overall environment is very relaxed and enjoyable. Training received was practical and helped me do my job.

There is also much room for taking on more responsibility if you so desire it.

    Cons

Outdated technologies and strategies are still apparent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look into implementing some newer technologies or rethink the processes you use for tasks.

    Pros

Work life balance if that is what you want. Opportunity to work above and beyond of your mandate if you want to.

    Cons

Non-standard employee benefits are close to non-existent, e.g there is no tuition reimbursement, practically useless employee rates for mortgages and loans.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on doing what you are doing, but stop being so cheap on the employee performance awards and employee banking benefits.
