I worked at Royal Bank of Scotland full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Was a fantastic place to work, a great group of people unfortunately the majority have either left or been let go.

    Cons

Uncertainty, the bank continues to fall on hard times with no real end in sight. Businesses will be sold or shut down and many more jobs will be cut.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest with your employees and keep them informed. The more transparency the more appreciative the employees will be.

I worked at Royal Bank of Scotland

    Pros

They pay on time. They have lots of financial (and therefore other) resources.

    Cons

The most talented people mostly left in the aftermath of the financial crisis. The folks who are still there a hanging on to earn a paycheck. Internal communication is extremely poor - especially across divisions. Management is ossified. Decision-making is slow; often, no one wants to go out on a limb for fear of being wrong. Their technology stack is irretrievably backward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start from scratch. Top management needs to lead. Force divisions to communicate with each other. Throw out your tech stack and start over. Get rid of deadwood - you could axe 50% of staff and no one would notice.
