I worked at Rubio's Restaurants part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Talking to people was definitely the best part about this job. You get to know the regular customers and if you do a good enough job, someone might leave you a tip! Though it's very rare since Rubios is not a sit down restaurant.

    Cons

My experience was the store was understaffed. I worked the job of two or three different people and was always there many hours busting my butt to make everything perfect.

    Advice to Management

I think that the training aspect needs to improve. We switched managers halfway through my time there, and the rules completely changed. I had been working there a while, but I felt like a beginner. There needs to be a common base line for all that is commonly known.

I worked at Rubio's Restaurants full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Great Product Served (Best Fish Tacos) -Good Environment -Customers are Usually Pretty Friendly -Co-Workers were awesome -Unique to the Area (Ligher Mexican Fare) -

    Cons

-Upper Management Difficult -Some stores were in disrepair and needed updates -Menu changed too much and had to be updated constantly (huge print shop bill) -Difficult to move up in company.

    Advice to Management

Develop shift leaders and assistant managers from within to be general managers. A lot of empty promises are thrown around, and lies about the ability to progress within the company.

    Pros

Working for a corporate company with a family owned vibe. There is passion at every level of the organization for our people, customers, and food. Caring for the environment and neighborhoods we operate in and doing everything we can to offer sustainable and "good for you" products at an affordable price.

    Cons

We struggle to offer competitive pay rates at the hourly level which makes attracting and retaining high quality employees a challenge.

    Advice to Management

Figure out a way to pay higher hourly rates to attract and retain high quality employees.
