I worked at Rubio's Restaurants part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You learn a lot about what it is like to work in a restaurant environment because as a GSA, not only would you be working at the cashier, but you could potentially serve guests their food (allowing you to practice your communication / oral skills)

    Cons

My coworkers were lazy, I felt like I did more work than my boss at times because I would often see her in her office just eating?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps the managers should be advised on how to better train new employees

I worked at Rubio's Restaurants full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Discounts on restaurant food; Time off policies are out of date; senior management ensures they get their share of the pie; others are left to fend for themselves.

    Cons

Senior management stretches the truth and is not completely honest with employees.
Hourly employees get the short end of the stick.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more honest with employees; respect hourly employees more.

I have been working at Rubio's Restaurants full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

None this is the worse company I ever worked for

    Cons

The GM and AM are the only full time employees. Keep in mind this started this year. No employees are allowed to work over 25 hours. This means no employees are full time anymore. They honestly don't care about their employees, the people that do their jobs are the bad ones, the the people that don't are the ones they praise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because you get paid salary doesn't mean your not allowed to finish a shift. GMs feels as though they don't have to work pass 4 pm, and leaves the rest of the team with the mess.

    Pros

Employees are treated right. Good work life balance, alternative work schedules.
Leadership keeps employees informed. Promotes personal growth, scholarship money available to employees and their family members.

    Cons

Heavy on paper use instead of automating restaurants to corporate communications. High restaurant employee turnover. Low hourly pay.

I worked at Rubio's Restaurants full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people I had the opportunity to work with were diverse and inspiring. Most of the Team Members truly care about the guest, the quality of the product they are putting out and their fellow Team Members. I had the opportunity to learn and was promoted - which offered new challenges and successes. When I had personal situations arise, they were extraordinary with their concern and a truly remarkable work/life balance.

    Cons

There are ups and downs - as with most companies...nothing really stands out as noteworthy here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work! The cost of the insurance benefits was high, but it was a tradeoff I was willing to accept.

I have been working at Rubio's Restaurants part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I was able to make my way from a GSA to a Line 1 cook fully certified within about 4-5 months, then began my shift leader development to finish as a shift leader by the 6th month. The pay is okay at $10 an hour.

    Cons

Upper management appeared to have a great lack of concern for their store, as well as the advancement of their team members. There was also a great lack of motivation in the workplace which was due to the lack of concern as well. There was basically no such thing as a "good job" or even a "hey this isn't going soo well, here's how you can improve" for that matter.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Show a greater role in your leadership priorities and don't appear to hate your job. Also, consider showing a greater concern for your team members personal development.

*I'm sure everything stated above is not relevant to every store as I have worked at multiple, this mainly only pertains to my current.
